New York based sculptor Nick van Woert coats and spreads classical plaster busts with liquid plastic, insulation foam and other hardening materials, giving the perfectionist and fragile portraits a bold contrast of colour and randomness, and a physical dynamic frozen in time.

Brooklyn-based artist Nick van Woert‘s warped work kicks classical sculpture off its pedestal, subverting familiar visages with the help of insulation foam, plexiglass, and sculpted polyurethane adhesive. The resulting busts remind us of what would happen if you slapped a sculpture in the face with a pie full of Nickelodeon-style slime or gak — and held it there.

Nick van Woert
Geboren in 1979 in Reno, Nevada.
Woont en werkt in Brooklyn, New York.
