Ole Martin Lund Bø has a distinctive minimal, interdisciplinary approach to his work. He playfully misuses materials as an entry into a larger paradox. His materials and subject matter are inscribed with meaning, radiating power and desire. They act as excerpts of architectural structures or forms of social decorum. The works themselves, however, are extractions rather than abstractions, suggesting an act or a certain behavior. The formal minimalism engenders the feeling that the intended subject is somehow missing from the work, existing just outside the field of the canvas, photograph or sculpture. The monochrome surfaces are stage sets, codes and catalysts, producing their own specific rules of engagement.

El arte abstracto siempre ha desafiado la lógica y la percepción. Y precisamente eso es lo que hace el artista finlandés Ole Martin Lund Bo en su instalación titulada “Deceptive Outward Appearance”, en la que propone un experimental y lúdico juego visual que, por sí sólo, llama la atención.

Se trata de un montón de trozos de madera apilados arbitrariamente que tiene una caprichosa forma arquitectónica, mediante la cual el autor se valió para esconder un letrero que el espectador debe identificar tras la contemplación. Y ahí radica, simple y sencillamente, todo su arte: en las formas y, desde luego, en el fondo. Como buscar una aguja en el pajar de las percepciones. Difícil de entender pero fácil de decir WOW. Más de esta obra.

Его произведения, созданные из обычных материалов с использованием простой техники, представляют собой один большой парадокс и выглядят как отдельные элементы архитектурных сооружений. А их минимализм вызывает ощущение, что в работе отсутствует какой-то нужный объект. Инсталляция Deceptive Outward Appearance – это абстрактная деревянная конструкция, на которой черной краской написаны три слова из названия. При этом увидеть и прочитать текст можно, только стоя под определенным углом к инсталляции.

L’abito non fa il monaco. Non si giudica il cavallo dalla sella. Niente è come sembra. Ci sono diversi modi per dire che l’apparenza inganna. L’artista norvegese Ole Martin Lund Bø ce lo dice con un’installazione: simile al gioco dello Shangai formato gigante, la scultura anamorfica dell’autore si mostra come un insieme di assi di legno verniciate disposte alla rinfusa, provviste di tanti segni neri apparentemente incomprensibili se li si guarda dalla prospettiva sbagliata. Incomprensibili solo finché non si trova il punto di vista corretto da cui osservare il lavoro e subito quelle pennellate astratte assumono un senso, rivelando il significato dell’opera, poiché compongono la scritta Deceptive Outward Appearance. L’ingannevole apparenza esteriore.
