RUKPONG RAIMATURAPONG

SITE SIGHT

“Bangkok we have a problem”. It does indeed seem something is disturbing collection “Site Sight” by Thai fashion designer Rukpong Raimaturapong (1990), who develops the theme of confusion and human incompleteness through 7 looks, which came in second at the Contemporary Fashion Contest 2013 in Bangkok.

What’s hiding behind the fine clothes of a well-dressed person? Under the façade of perfection, the young creative talent shows us the signs of work in progress. As if the body, needing to build itself an identity, masked itself with a garment that covers its form. Rukpong chooses to portray the geometries of the collection with photographic shots that come to life with graphic distortions.

Each piece represents a phase, from the beginning to the end of the construction of a final façade. Natural materials, synthetic fibers and reinforced fabric are woven together and manufactured expressly by Thai community Baan Krua, renowned for its artisanal production of silk.

Rukpong divides his time between his free-lance activities in fashion and graphic design. At the moment he is working on his second collection “8-6,11-4” (from 8 to 6, from 11 to 4), based on his observation of the people on the street in those time frames. We eagerly await the results!

Bangkok we have a problem.
