Abstract:
A instalação “Vídeo-Boleba” é composta por uma TV e um mecanismo que atira bolas de gude. No vídeo, dois meninos se revezam jogando as bolinhas que, ao sumirem do quadro, aparecem pela lateral da tela, espalhando-se no espaço próximo ao público e dando continuidade à cena no plano material.
Enquanto o vídeo busca uma representação fiel da realidade, seu desdobramento fora da tela busca reproduzir a imagem. O dispositivo criado pela artista burla o olhar do espectador, confundindo sua percepção, criando interfaces com “novos espaços” e articulando realidade material e o mundo da virtualidade.
Este projeto foi desenvolvido através do Edital de Apoio à Pesquisa e Criação Artística 2011 da Secretaria de Estado de Cultura do Rio de Janeiro.
Biography:
Celina Portella trabalha com artes plásticas e dança, investigando questões sobre a representação do corpo a partir do vídeo. Foi contemplada pelo I Programa de Fomento a Cultura Carioca e pela bolsa do Núcleo de Arte e Tecnologia da EAV Parque Lage, RJ. Participou da residência no Centre Récollets em Paris, LABMIS em São Paulo, entre outras.
Foi indicada ao prêmio de Bolsa ICCO/sp-arte 2016, ao prêmio EFG Bank & ArtNexus em 2015, ao prêmio Pipa 2013 e premiada no II Concurso de Videoarte da Fundaj em Recife. Participou da III Mostra do Programa de Exposições do CCSP, da Mostra Verbo na Galeria Vermelho e da Mostra SESC de Artes, entre outras exposições. Como bailarina e co-criadora trabalhou com os coreógrafos Lia Rodrigues e João Saldanha.

Abstract:
The “Vídeo-Boleba” installation is composed by a TV set and a mechanism that shoots marbles. In the video, two boys take turns playing the marbles, which appear at the side of the screen when they leave the frame, scattering in the space close to the public, and giving continuity to the scene in the material world.
While the video seeks a faithful representation of reality, its unfolding outside the screen seeks to replicate the image. The device created by the artist swindles the spectator’s eye, confusing its perception, creating interfaces with “new spaces”, and articulating material reality and the virtual world.
This project was developed through Edital de Apoio à Pesquisa e Criação Artística 2011 from Secretaria de Estado de Cultura of Rio de Janeiro.
Biography:
Celina Portella works with visual arts and dance, investigating issues about the representation of the body through video. She was considered for the I Programa de Fomento a Cultura Carioca, and for Rio de Janeiro’s EAV Parque Lage’s Núcleo de Arte e Tecnologia scholarship. She participated in the Centre Récollets residency in Paris, the LABMIS in São Paulo, among others.
She was nominated for the Bolsa ICCO/sp-arte 2016 award, the EFG Bank & ArtNexus award in 2015, the Pipa 2013 award, and she won a prize at the II Concurso de Videoarte da Fundaj, in Recife. She took part on the III Mostra of the CCSP Exhibit Programme, the Mostra Verbo at Galeria Vermelho, and the Mostra SESC de Artes, among other exhibits. As a dancer and co-creator, she worked with the choreographers Lia Rodrigues and João Saldanha.

Celina Portella vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro, estudou design na Puc-Rio e se formou em artes plásticas na Université Paris VIII. Trabalha com artes plásticas e dança. A partir do vídeo e da fotografia, suas obras dialogam com a arquitetura, o cinema, a performance e ultimamente com a escultura, caracterizando-se especialmente por um questionamento sobre a representação do corpo e sua relação com o espaço.

Foi contemplada pelo I Programa de Fomento a Cultura Carioca em Artes Visuais, com a Bolsa de Apoio a Criação da Secretaria de Estado de Cultura e com a bolsa do Núcleo de Arte e Tecnologia da EAV Parque Lage no Rio de Janeiro.

Foi indicada ao prêmio de Bolsa ICCO/sp-arte 2016, ao prêmio de aquisição EFG Bank & ArtNexus na SP Arte 2015 e ao prêmio Pipa 2013 e premiada no II Concurso de Videoarte da Fundação Joaquim Nabuco em Recife. Participou da residência no Centre international d’accueil et d’échanges des Récollets em Paris, da residência LABMIS, do Museu da imagem e do Som em São Paulo, na Galeria Kiosko em Santa Cruz de La Sierra na Bolívia, entre outras.

De participações em mostras coletivas, destacam-se a TRIO Bienal e Nova Arte Nova, no Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, O tempo e os tempos na Galeria Carbono, Esboço para uma coreografia na Galeria Central e Verbo na Galeria Vermelho, III Mostra Do Programa de Exposições do Centro Cultural São Paulo, o 60o Salão de Abril (Fortaleza) e o 15o Salão da Bahia. Como bailarina e co-criadora trabalhou com os coreógrafos Lia Rodrigues e João Saldanha.

Celina Portella lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. She attended design course at Puc-Rio and majored in plastic arts at Université Paris VIII. She works with fine arts and dance. Based on video and photography her artwork relates with architecture, cinema, performance and lately with sculpture. It is characterized especially by the questioning about the representation of the body and its relation to space.

She was granted by the I Program of Fostering to the Culture from Rio in Visual Arts with a Creation Support Scholarship from the Culture State Department, and with a scholarship from the Arts and Technology Center of EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro.

She was nominated to the ICCO/sp-arte 2016 Scholarship award, to the EFG Bank & ArtNexus acquisition award at SP Arte 2015 and to the Pipa award 2013. She was also awarded at the II Videoart Contest of Fundação Joaquim Nabuco in Recife.
