Australia’s Back to Back Theatre challenges preconceived ideas about disability. The ensemble is comprised of people with disabilities and the story begins with the elephant-headed god Ganesh travelling through Nazi Germany to reclaim the swastika, an ancient Hindu symbol. The story of a young man inspired to create a play about Ganesh, the god of overcoming obstacles, is intertwined. He is an everyman who must overcome difficulties and defend his play and collaborators. The performance asks the audience to examine who has the right to tell a story and who has the right to be heard.

Dans son périple fantasmagorique, le héros se heurte à une péripétie de taille : Les acteurs de la pièce commencent à sentir la lourde responsabilité du poids de l’histoire et s’interrogent sur leur place de conteurs d’un récit qui les dépasse.

Le spectacle prend sa propre vie sous nos yeux entre réalité et fiction. Il nous invite à examiner qui a le droit de raconter une histoire et qui a le droit d’être entendu. Il interroge notre complicité dans la création et l’embrasement du monde, notre capacité à rendre la vie plus humaine et pleine d’espoir.

Ganesh Versus the Troisième Reich est un travail pour le proche avenir, apparemment impossible à faire.
