8984 (nights) consists of a multimedia installation basing on the concept of the bed in relation to the private space of the home . From birth to death (two acts that normally also take place in a bed), every human being sleeps every day in a bed, but that is not the only thing he/she does in it. The bed is a space for dreams, sexual relations, relief and rest; in bed we read, we watch TV, we cry, we suffer and we experience pleasure. However, the present work raises an approach to this important daily object by means of a video-installation which is composed by a sponge mattress connected through some tubes to different video showings that surround the central item.
In 8984 (nights) the viewer faces an audiovisual device, an almost scenic representation that, with the video images, the sound and the different materials that make up the installation, reaches a symbolization of the bed as a place for reflection, encounter, protection, suffer and rest; all in all, as a place for occurrence.
