Complete (Duchamp series)

SEBASTIAN ERRAZURIZ 1

Complete is a sculpture in honor of renowned French artist Marcel Duchamp, whose work is associated with the Dadaist and Surrealist movements. Duchamp is considered one of the most important artists of the twentieth century and has always been an important influence for Sebastian Errazuriz. Complete is both an homage and a mischievous jab at Duchamp’s famous readymade sculpture named “Bicycle Wheel,” which depicts a single wheel on top of a stool.

Errazuriz, in his competitive nature, couldn’t resist sacrilegiously indicating that his idol’s work
might not have been “complete,” and that his own completed version is better.
