Work: “Food Factory” and “Curiosity Center” are at the center of the extension of “Danfoss Universe”, a 5,5 hectar science amusement park near the headquarter of Danfoss Enterprise in Nordborg, Denmark, opened in April 2007. The park was extended by two buildings: a Restaurant and an Exhibition-Conference-Center (in total 1400m2). Jürgen Mayer H. plant bis zum Frühjahr 2007 die Erweiterung von “Danfoss Universe”, einem Naturwissenschafts- und Technikerlebnispark in Nordborg, Dänemark nahe des Firmensitzes von Danfoss. Auf dem 5,5 ha großen Gelände entstehen mehrere Erweiterungsbauten, u.a. ein Restaurant und ein Ausstellungs- und Konferenzzentrum (gesamt 1400 m2). Diese in ihrer Erscheinung außergewöhnlichen Gebäude betonen den pädagogischen und innovativen Grundgedanken von Danfoss Universe und wollen Interesse für Natur und Wissenschaft wecken.

بعد افتتاحه في شهر أيار عام 2005 وبفضل النجاح الكبير الذي لاقاه لدى العامَّة منذ ذلك الحين، يخضع الآن مجمع Danfoss Universe العلمي في مدينة نوردبورغ الدنماركية إلى عملية توسيعٍ تحت إشراف شركة J Mayer H architects بإضافة مبنيين جديدين غريبي الشكل على أمل لفت أنظار عددٍ أكبر من الزوار وتحقيق المزيد من النجاحات.
كما ذكرنا، يتألف هذا التوسيع من مبنيين اثنين؛ الأول هو مركز اكتشافات مؤلف من طابقين بمساحة 1200 متر مربع، حيث يمكن للأولاد أن يستكشفوا مواضيع علمية تتعلق بالأرض ليصلوا إلى اكتشافاتهم الخاصة حول مسائل التكرير والرياح والتربة والرمال، والثاني عبارة عن مقهى مؤلف من طابق واحد بمساحة 500 متر مربع. أما الميزانية الإجمالية المخصصة لهذا المشروع التوسُّعي فهي تبلغ 3,86 مليون دولار أمريكي.
هذا وتنبثق المباني الجديدة من الأرض، لتقدِّمَ مساحاتٍ تعمل على توضيح سمة المزج بين المساحة الخارجية والمعرض الداخلي. كما تتميز هذه الأرض المفعمة بالحياة بمرونتها وقابليتها للتكيُّف تبعاً لعوامل البرنامج الجاري والموقع المُقام فيه على أرض المنتزه.
من ناحيةٍ أخرى، تعمل نقاط نهايات المباني على تغشية الخط الفاصل بين المبنى والمجمع من خلال تقديم مساحاتٍ مقلوبةٍ (أي الظاهر منها هو باطنها) بمثابة مناطق عرض وأسطح إسقاط تتعلق بالمعارض المؤقتة المُقامة في الداخل.
أكثر ما يلفت الانتباه في المشروع هو الشكل الهندسي الغريب، حيث يحدد شكل البناء الذي يأخذ شكل مجموعاتٍ من التشكُّلات الأرضية خط الأفق الفريد الذي تم تشكيله حديثاً لمجمع Danfoss Universe، هذا المجمع المغروس في المساحة الزراعية من مدينة نوردبورغ إلى جانب منزل مؤسِّسه ومقر مجموعة Danfoss.
هذه المجموعة التي تأسست عام 1633 من قِبَل Mads Clausen لتصبح منتِجاً عالمياً للمواد والحلول المتعلقة بأنظمة التبريد والتكييف والتدفئة والمياه، فهي تنتج حوالي 250,000 عنصر في أكثر من 50 مصنع موزع على 20 بلد حول العالم، تتبنى جميعها مبادئ المسؤولية الاجتماعية والبيئية.
إلا أن هذا المشروع لن يكون الأخير بالنسبة للمجمع، وإنما تتضمن الخطة الرئيسية للمرحلة الثانية من أعمال المجمع إنشاء مبنى للمعارض وهو مركز الاكتشافات Curiosity Center ومطعماً Food Factory ليقوم بتوسيع نشاط المجمع الخارجي الصيفي إلى أشهر الشتاء من خلال تأمين مساحاتٍ مغلقةٍ مخصصةٍ للمعارض والتجارب العلمية.
ننوِّه أخيراً إلى تعاون الشركة المعمارية مع شركة Hallen & Nordby للعمارة التي ساعدت في أعمال الهندسة على أرض الموقع، إلى جانب الاستعانة بالمستشارين التقنيين من شركة Carl Bro.

Jürgen Mayer H. studied arquitetura at the Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and Princeton University. In 1996 founded in Berlin the J. MAYER. H. Architects’ Studio office, focused on the intersection of architecture, communication and new technologies. Development planning and urban buildings to workstation, exhibits and objects with new materials, sustainable in the relationship between the human body, technology and nature are the principles for the production of new spaces. Mayer’s work has been published and exhibited worldwide, as part of numerous collections, including MoMA in New York and SF MoMA. He has received numerous national and international awards, including in 2003 the special mention award for emerging architects Mies van-der-Rohe, the Holcim Award Bronze in 2005 and the Audi Urban Future Award 2010. Jürgen Mayer H. also taught at Princeton University, University of the Arts Berlin, Harvard, Kunsthochschule Berlin, London Architectural Association, Columbia University and University of Toronto.

J Mayer H architects have completed an extension to the Danfoss Universe science park in Nordburg, Denmark. The extension consists of two new buildings: a Curiosity Center (top two images) and a cafe (below, foreground). Below are an explanation, credits and data from the architects:

The new buildings rise up from the ground and provide spaces which articulate the fusion of outdoor landscape and indoor exhibition. This active ground modulates according to program and location in the park.

The endpoints of the buildings blur the line between building and park by offering inside-out spaces as display areas and projection surfaces related to the temporary exhibitions inside. Silhouettes, as groups of land formations, define the unique newly programmed horizon line of Danfoss Universe. Danfoss Universe is a science park in Denmark, embedded in the agricultural landscape of Nordborg next to the founder’s home and the Danfoss HQ. It opened in May 2005 and is already enlarging due to its considerable success. The masterplan for Danfoss Universe Phase 2 includes an exhibition building (Curiosity.Center) and a restaurant (Food.Factory) which extends the summer based outdoor park into the winter months by enclosing spaces for exhibitions and scientific experiments.

Nicht erst seit der Fertigstellung seines bisher wohl aufsehenerregendsten Projektes „Metropol Parasol“ in Sevilla zählt Jürgen Mayer H. international zu den prominentesten und am meisten diskutierten deutschen Architekten seiner Generation. Dabei folgen seine Entwürfe nicht nur einer eigenständigen Formensprache, sondern profitieren insbesondere vom übergreifenden Selbstverständnis des Büros: J. Mayer H. Architekten, von Jürgen Mayer H. 1996 in Berlin gegründet, arbeiten an den Schnittstellen von Architektur, Kommunikationsdesign und Neuen Technologien. Der Einsatz interaktiver Medien und responsiver Materialien spielt eine zentrale Rolle bei der Produktion von Raum. In kooperativen Teams wird, von Installationen bis zu städtebaulichen Entwürfen und internationalen Wettbewerben, multidisziplinäre Raumforschung zum Verhältnis von Körper, Natur und Technologie erarbeitet und realisiert. In seinem Vortrag „Activators“ am 8. Februar im KAP Forum in Köln gibt Jürgen Mayer H. Einblicke in das Arbeiten seines Büros und die dahinter stehende Architekturauffassung.

Jürgen Mayer H. studierte Architektur an der Universität Stuttgart, The Cooper Union New York und an der Princeton University. Seine Arbeiten wurden mit zahlreichen internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem Mies van der Rohe Preis Emerging Architect 2003, dem Winner Holcim Award Bronze 2005 für nachhaltige Architektur und dem 1. Preis des Audi Urban Future Award 2010. J. Mayer H. Architekten sind mit Projekten in Sammlungen wie dem MoMA NY und dem SF MoMA vertreten. Seit 1996 unterrichtet Jürgen Mayer H. an verschiedenen Universitäten, u. a. an der Universität der Künste Berlin, am GSD der Harvard University, an der Architectural Associaton in London, der Columbia University in New York und der Universität Toronto, Kanada.
