Nathan Little is a Scottish born British artist. He has studied and worked in Canterbury and Bath. Although an accomplished 2D artist, he has focused largely on sculptural work at university, finding inspiration from the themes of isolation, dreams and surrealism.

My creativity manifests itself in the creation of other worldly surreal sculptures and creatures. These works function as unsolvable mysteries; they are riddles and enigmas, profound yet pointless. I’ve come to think of them as windows onto worlds whose rules of nature are not our own, an environment found in dreams and the infinite worlds within our head rather than reality.

I often use common everyday artifacts in my creations which makes them more bizarre by contrast. They act as an ‘anchor’ for the works, giving them a piece of reality which makes it all the more surreal when placed in an impossible scenario. This has taken me along the path to new and exciting avenues of experimentation within sculpture.

Though I am primarily a sculptor drawing on a regular basis is important to me. Whether it be to develop ideas, design possible sculptures or simply to jot down thoughts before they escape me, I always have a sketch book on the go. My primary tools are simply pencil and pen.
