A student from Danish Design School, Ellinor Ericsson has designed a chair called TubeMe which was exhibited on the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2011. In designer’s words, “The TubeMe chair is about a tactile interaction with a chair. You are able to braid the naked chair with pillow tubes creating your own upholster with the different textiles. While actually sitting in the chair you can interact with it by using the tubes or just throw them around you and fall asleep being embraced.”

Una propuesta realmente fantástica: una silla que se desparrama para ofrecernos un espacio de descanso adicional. Creada por un estudiante de la Danish Design School, Ellinor Ericsson, “TubeMe” permite leer, descansar o disfrutar del buen cine en cualquier espacio de nuestra vivienda. “TubeMe” propone una experiencia táctil. La estructura desnuda de la silla es recubierta por tubos de almohada –de diferentes telas- que aportan una sensación agradable al sentarte sobre ellas. Así, uno puede tirarse sobre los tubos a disfrutar de su actividad favorita o, incluso, dormir abrazado entre almohadas.

I am a 23 year old Swedish girl studying my third year at The Danish Design School. Furniture design has just caught my interest and this is the first time I ever made a chair. I therefore take my bachelor degree in both industriel and furniture design this summer.

Textile is a material that has haunted me in my industrial projects and now also in the furniture. I’ve often been told that my project is done scenographic even if it is about a vacuum cleaner or a caravan. The Tube Me Chair, is also a scenografphic projekt when I want to introduce a chair into people’s living rooms as the user can interact with and braid in their personality.

The TubeMe Chair is exhibited for the first time at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 8-13 feb. 2011, come and take a seat!
