Smelling some bad air, have a noisy neighbor, or just needing to catch your forty winks? Masked in Flight could be your savior! The series of face masks are designed by Icelandic designer Sruli Recht and constructed from folded laser cut parchment,. The face masks are each equipped with an air-purifying filter, and they are also fitted with a few functional variances, such a light-filtering sleep mask, a pair of sound-reduction ear covers, a hinged eye mask, hopefully enough to cover your bases.

“Masked in Flight” is a project by Iceland’s Sruli Recht that studies what kind of masks air travelers might wear — travelers that wanted to look like serial killers and creepy stormtroopers, that is. Would you feel comfortable on a plane with the person next to you wearing something like this?

Recht made the masks out of laser-cut parchment. You can read all about them in the gallery below, with a caption from Sruli Recht’s website that describes each.

Исландский дизайнер Sruli Recht придумал, сделал и с мая этого года собирается продавать серию из четырёх масок для путешествий. Все они сделаны из пергаментной бумаги, разрезанной лазером и сложенной специальным образом. Начнём с четвёртой, самой красивой маски под незамысловатым названием Mask D. Эта маска-респиратор с одним съёмным картриджем, соответствует американскому стандарту N95 (то есть, защищает от 95% воздушно-капельных не масляных частиц). И одновременно это маска для сна – верхней частью можно закрыть глаза от света (как на картинке), а можно, при необходимости, поднять её вверх. Конструкция продумана таким образом, чтоб на глаза ничего не давило. С такой маской и правда путешествовать комфортнее, чем без неё.

A empresa Sruli Recht está produzindo sua nova coleção de máscaras para dormir chamada de Masked, são indicadas para viagens e são feitas de pergaminho cortado a laser e um sistema com cartuchos de filtros de ar N95 que podem ser trocados facilmente.

A inspiração me parece ser em conceitos de filmes e jogos futuristas de ficção científica (como Fallout, Transformers e Final Fantasy) ou terror (como Hannibal e Silent Hill). Particularmente gostei bastante do visual.
