The fine porcelain art of Barbara Hast causes time to stand still and invites the spectator to marvel at the metamorphoses that gradually reveal themselves. The natural growth process of plants and fruit has inspired these quirky creations of “white gold”. Plainly and modestly, they refer to the 17th century’s love of nature and remind us of the exotic curiosities of baroque treasure chambers. Barbara Hast’s objects contain a whole variety of allusions. Their invisible roots and tentacles reach out into all directions of time and history. Barbara Hast lives and works in Neuendorf in the North German county of Holstein – far away from all trends and fashions. Her professional qualifications too are more on the side of craft making than artistic inspiration.

“There is nothing spectacular about my workshop” she says laughing “I just persue my own ideas and experiment until it is exactly as I want it to be”.

She obviously loves her work because she talks with enthusiasm, funny, precise and with shining eyes.

These shining eyes you see on anyone who meets her ceramics. Undiminished phantasy meets perfection of craft. Her cream of clay decorations cover her porcelain cups like nets of material and decor. We show her latest creation: wonderful teapods in companie of cute small teabowls, tinkerbell boxes, fine containers and impressing plates.
