Посреди Брюсселя (Бельгия) появилась оригинальная арт-установка, выполненная из множества зеркал. Она играет роль своеобразного калейдоскопа, призывая зрителей взглянуть на себя под другим углом.

В рамках фестиваля The 2014 Kanal Playground Festival, проходящего в Брюсселе, парижский художник и архитектор Маттиа Пако Рицци (Mattia Paco Rizzi) представил арт-инсталляцию «Taumascopia» в виде огромного калейдоскопа. Прохожим предлагается зайти внутрь установки и увидеть свои отражения под разными углами.

По мнению автора, этот калейдоскоп – своеобразный метафора города и его жителей. Прохожие, входя внутрь, могут почувствовать себя той «цветной стекляшкой», которая создает узоры в зеркальном пространстве. Так и в реальности: жители являются своеобразной «мозаикой», образующей неповторимый колорит своего города.

‘taumascopio’ is an art installation designed and realized by parisian architect-artist mattia paco rizzi for the 2014 kanal playground festival in brussels, belgium. the structure is completely covered with mirrors and as a result, offers a complete visual camouflage along the molenbeek’s canal. as its exterior panels fold, the overall massing creates a kaleidoscopic effect that reacts to heat. during the temperature’s evolution throughout the day, the surfaces present an ever-changing reflective effect. ‘the ‘taumascopio’ invites us to reflect in poetic vein on public space, like a box of delights that gives us multiple visions and allows us to see the city differently,’ says rizzi. ‘the mosaic of reflections sends our thoughts in new directions and invite us to create new ideas.’

Taumascopio is an art installation designed and realized by Mattia Paco Rizzi, architect/artist based in Paris, France for the Kanal Playground Festival, which took place from September 17th to 21th 2014 in Brussels, Belgium.

The installation was placed along the Molenbeek’s canal and will be present in the major squares of the Brussels Capital Region during 2015.

The structure is completely covered with mirrors.

Outside offers complete visual camouflage. Inside, the installation’s shape creates a kaleidoscopic effect.

The mirror surface reacts to the heat and bring new reflection of light. During the temperature’s evolution of the day, the surface structure changes, creating ever-changing reflection geometry effect.

The Taumascopio invites us to reflect in poetic vein on public space. Like a box of delights that gives us multiple visions and allows us to see the city differently. Equipped with a viewfinder and covered with mirrors, the device acts like a kaleidoscope, creating visual diversity in city, its architecture and its users. The mosaic of reflections sends our thoughts in new directions and invite us to create new ideas.

L’artiste-architecte parisien Mattia Paco Rizzi et Jessica Bergstein-Collay sont à l’origine de l’installation « Taumascopio » réalisée pour le festival Kanal à Bruxelles en Belgique.

Cette oeuvre psychédélique fonctionne comme un kaléidoscope et invite les visiteurs à réfléchir sur la ville autrement, en troublant notre façon de penser.
Cette installation va devenir mobile et sera présentée sur différentes places de Bruxelles.
