Un spectacle frontal pour trois danseurs évoluant dans un environnement immersif constitué d’images projetées, générées et animées en direct.
Un spectacle où deux impossibles se trouvent réunis : le corps qui vole, grâce à des dispositifs de suspension et le corps qui rentre dans l’image. Une écriture chorégraphique acrobatique et numérique qui esquisse un langage du corps ouvrant sur d’autres rapports au temps, à l’espace, au monde. Au-delà de la recherche de la prouesse technique, c’est celle d’un onirisme du mouvement et d’une écriture par l’image.

Artist duo Adrien M & Claire B have lifted the curtain on their latest acrobatic dance performance utilizing digital projection titled The Movement of Air. Seen in this video is a handful of moments taken from an hour-long piece performed in France last month by a trio dancers. Unlike more common uses of digital project mapping where a recorded animation or scene is projected in a space, Adrien M & Claire B instead utilize fully interactive “scenes” that respond to human interaction. Nothing you see on the set is animated beforehand.

“This ‘living light’ is produced by video projectors and generated in real time by a set of algorithms,” Adrien shares with us. “It is a mix of control room operated human interventions and onstage data sensors that outlines a precise writing of motions and generative behaviors. Thus, the images are never pre-recorded for a rigid show on an imposed rhythm: on the contrary, they breathe and move with the dancers and organize a new space for them to explore.”

The overall effect is dizzying, and in many ways enhances the dancer’s work instead of looking like a gimmick added as an afterthought. La compagnie Adrien M / Claire B crée des formes allant du spectacle aux installations dans le champ des arts numériques et des arts vivants. Elle est co-dirigée par Claire Bardainne et Adrien Mondot. Leur démarche place l’humain au centre des enjeux technologiques, et le corps au coeur des images, avec comme spécificité le développement sur-mesure de ses outils informatiques. Ils poursuivent la recherche d’un numérique vivant : mobile, artisanal, éphémère et sensible.
Depuis sa révélation aux Jeunes Talents Cirque 2004 avec le projet Convergence 1.0, Adrien Mondot, artiste pluridisciplinaire, informaticien et jongleur crée des spectacles mettant en œuvre des interactions sensibles entre le numérique, le jonglage, la danse et la musique. Avec Cinématique, il remporte le Grand Prix du jury dans le cadre de la compétition internationale «Danse et Nouvelles Technologies» du festival Bains Numériques à Enghien-les-Bains en 2009.
En 2011, avec Claire Bardainne, plasticienne, designer graphique et scénographe, ils refondent la compagnie qui devient Adrien M / Claire B. Aller au-delà de l’espace du plateau et de la temporalité de la représentation est notamment un des axes forts de la transformation de la compagnie. Ils co-signent ainsi la création de l’exposition interactive XYZT, Les paysages abstraits. En 2011, ils créent également le spectacle-conférence Un point c’est tout. Puis en 2013, Hakanaï, pièce chorégraphique pour une danseuse dans une boîte d’images. Ensemble, ils interrogent le mouvement et ses multiples résonances avec la création graphique et numérique. Il en surgit un langage poétique visuel, associant imaginaire, réel et virtuel porteur d’infinies perspectives d’exploration.
La compagnie Adrien M / Claire B est installée sur la Presqu’île de Lyon où elle occupe un atelier de recherche et de création. Elle a été associée à l’Hexagone Scène Nationale Arts Sciences – Meylan pour les années 2009-2010-2011, au Manège de Reims Scène Nationale pour les saisons 2005-2006-2007. Elle est conventionnée par la DRAC Rhône-Alpes, par la Région Rhône-Alpes et soutenue par la ville de Lyon.

They create many forms of art, from stage performances to exhibitions combining real and virtual worlds with IT tools that were developed and customised specifically for them. They place the human body at the heart of technological and artistic challenges and adapt today’s technological tools to create a timeless poetry through a visual language based on playing and enjoyment, which breeds imagination. The projects are carried out by Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne. The company operates as a research and creativity workshop based out of Presqu’île in Lyon.
