Kinematope
Kinematope is specific twice over. First, for being formulated as a response to the perceptual qualities and inner structure of the place it activates. Second, its kinematic nature is directly connected to the function of the train station itself: transit, transport, motion. Kinematope uses ephemeral and intangible materials, projected light and sound, to set the space in motion. It makes use of elements from the cinema apparatus to generate a spatial film. It is a direct filmic experience that omits the mediation of the camera, transporting the observer into a virtual space-time and maintaining at the same time the real, physical bonds of the body with its environment.

Intolerance: Love’s Struggle Throughout the Ages
Regarded as one of the most influential films of the silent era (though it received mixed reviews at the time), the three-and-a-half-hour epic intercuts four parallel storylines, each separated by several centuries: (1) a contemporary melodrama of crime and redemption, (2) a Judean story: Christ‘s mission and death, (3) a French story: the events surrounding the St. Bartholomew’s Day massacre of 1572, and (4) a Babylonian story: the fall of the Babylonian Empire to Persia in 539 BC. Each story had its own distinctive color tint in the original print, but not in the currently available versions.

Ao entrar na cabine de teletransporte, ele acaba se fundindo geneticamente a uma mosca-doméstica, tendo diversas modificações fisiológicas aproximando-o da aparência de um inseto.

O espectador fica com a nítida sensação de que num futuro próximo a informação estará disponível, transportada de um lugar a outro no cérebro de ciborgues mensageiros. O chip pode transportar uma quantidade quase infinita de dados plugando um pino no orifício de um implante eletrônico colocado bem na região occipital.

La cantidad no es lo mismo que la calidad, ya lo sabemos, pero el diseñador gráfico estadounidense Mike Winkelmann (alias Beeple) ha logrado hacer coincidir las dos cosas. Beeple, con su carácter autocrítico, decidió que la mejor manera de mejorar su talento artístico era completar una obra completa en un día, todos los días. Así nació el proyecto Everydays, que ya se encuentra en su octavo año consecutivo, y en 2015 la ciencia ficción es la principal inspiración. Cada año Beeple utiliza un medio diferente para crear sus obras artísticas, y este año el artista ha utilizado herramientas digitales como Cinema 4D, Octane Renderer, Z-Brush y X-Particles. En menos de 24 horas, Beeple es capaz de crear una ilustración digital hiperrealista que parece haber tardado mucho más en hacer. Los increíbles resultados resaltan paisajes y escenarios futuristas que parecen sacados de una película de ciencia ficción, donde hay un claro contraste entre la pequeñez de la figura humana (a veces casi imperceptible) y el aparato tecnológico que tiene frente a él. Otras obras, en cambio, representan formas más abstractas, que, sin embargo, nunca se apartan de su carácter futurista. Profundamente detallada y minuciosa, parece imposible que cada una de estas obras se cree y complete en un día, pero lo cierto es que la estadounidense El artista ya está en el 3030 de trabajo consecutivo y no parece querer frenar el ritmo. Es decir, es un artista reacio a la dilación.

15 Minutes of Biometric Fame
The design of the installation 15 Minutes of Biometric Fame is inspired by the camera dollies employed in the television and cinema industries. A camera crane moves autonomously over a large circular track. In a rather intimidating manner, it points the camera at visitors in the exhibition space and scans each visitor’s facial features, comparing them to those of a vast array of preselected persons in a database.

Garden of Emoji Delights

The Garden of Earthly Delights Triptych is one of the most famous works by the Dutch painter Hyeronimus Bosch. It dates back to the end of the fifteenth century and is kept in the Prado Museum in Madrid. The Triptych of the Garden of Emoji Delights is the version created by the contemporary artist Carla Gannis, in which space is invaded by small icons that today – thanks to the WhatsApp effect – are becoming an increasingly significant component of our language. It is not the first time that artists have played with emojis, perhaps inserting them in the real world or using them as neo-hieroglyphic fragments for cinematic riddles.

Ella es como la encarnación de la mujer norteamericana a lo largo de los años que abarcan los lienzos elegidos, de 1931 hasta 1965.
