Fiber Optic Dress

La créatrice Natalia Walsh, de San Francisco, a transformé les concepts de mode et a créé une robe innovante qui brille dans le noir.
Pour élaborer la pièce, l’artiste a réalisé un modèle basique blanc avec une jupe  ballon et un support pour les poignées des sources lumineuses. Ensuite, elle a inséré les fils de fibre optique autour du corps de la robe, les laissant vers le sol pour créer un effet dynamique.Pendant que le modèle bouge et marche, les fibres optiques changent de couleurs différentes.

“Network Time consists of several wifi routers set up in an exhibition space to be freely accessed by any mobile internet device. Attached to each router is a slender fiber optic cable, aligned to absorb and magnify the incessant flicker of its traffic LED. At the intersection of fashion and digital innovation comes wearable tech. Giving analog clothing and accessories a futuristic upgrade, it promises to completely redefine their form and function. One of the most stunning examples of the tech-chic trend is a headline-making dress dubbed the “jellyfish.” Created by designer Richard Nicoll, it appeared to float down the runway at London Fashion Week exuding the same phosphorescent glow of the eerily gorgeous sea creatures that inspired it. (Except his dress used strings of fiber optics—no stinging tentacles here!)

The performance centered around ORACLE, a digital palm reading given by model and iconic muse Axelle Doué. The surrounding luminous dresses embodying the four elements— air, earth, water, and fire—come alive during the reading, with mirrors reflecting them into infinity. The pieces are crafted from diverse materials, both natural and synthetic. Well beyond typical textiles, Clara Daguin implements optical fibers, pleating, embroidered circuits, addressable LEDs, sculpted resin, home-grown alum stone crystals, Swarovski Elements, silk organza, microcontrollers and radio frequency modules.
