The One-Way Ticket
The One-Way Ticket explores the idea of sending one person on a one-way trip to outer space. Not coming back opens up an exceptional scenario, so far unprecedented in the history of human space travel. The project focuses on the experience of a lone astronaut and responds to research into human factors particular to a one-way mission. In parallel with this research ran a production of props, contraptions and sets made for exploring the scenario through film.

mutanttales — Posterra – Colombia

In the end, the organic will eat technological waste like fungi. What remains of humanity in this finale? What remains of Earth over human vanity? We are beings in an unconscious mix, sitting behind screens as if traveling in a spaceship in the void of the universe. The layers fall away, and our corporeal reality remains. Scan your consciousness and step out of your spaceship; in Posterna, there’s still a world to live in.

Sanja Marusic

Dutch-Croatian photographer Sanja Marušić uses an experimental approach to colour, composition, materials, and manipulations in her work to create dreamlike scenes that are at once cinematic and alienating. She travels the world in her production of these otherworldly images, finding settings and forms that play with our relation to the subconscious, simplifying the bodies of her subjects with geometric shapes, and abstracting the human form even further by incorporating stylised dance movements.Putting places above people, many of Sanja’s photographs are set in wide open futuristic spaces in an attempt to create surreal and alienating visual emotions. She often uses cool and bright colours as well as singular objects and accessories in order to create unique and enigmatic narratives.

Galactic Everyday

The subject of humanness and achieving human comfort in space has been overlooked by science. Humanizing space needs to be addressed and given attention and research in order for humans to live well in long-term space colonization and deep space exploration. My position on space travel is neither the picture painted by NASA and SPACEX, nor is it the adventures of Barbarella, it is the grey area of space, the overlooked day-to-day life of humanity that I believe to be of importance. Why can’t living in space be purposeful and fulfilling but also enjoyable, pleasurable, and sensuous?
