Adriana Lara was born in Mexico in 1978. She received a degree in Photography from Escuela Activa de Fotografía in Mexico, a degree in Art and Design from Koninklijk Academie Van Beldende Kunsten KABK, in Holland, and is currently in the process of receiving a degree in Philosophy from the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, UNAM.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, most recently included in AUTOCENTER in Berlin; The Exhibition Formerly Known as Passengers: Stowaways at the CCA Wattis Institut for Contemporary Arts in San Francisco, and in The Generational: Younger than Jesus, at the New Museum, NY which included an installation titled “Banana Peel”
Adriana Lara has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Astrup Fearnley Museet for Modern Kunst and at the Kunsthalle Wien, Karlsplatz. There have been Numerous articles about Adriana Lara, including ‘Art Matters | Old and New Worlds Collide Around Mexico City’s Zona Maco’ written by Kevin Mcgarry for New York Times Magazine in 2014.

Adriana Lara is was born in Mexico City in 1978. She has had an interdisciplinar and self-taught practice. In 2002/3 she participated in a pedagogical program at Le Pavillon in Palais de Tokyo (FR). She founded together with Agustina Ferreyra and Fernando Mesta, the production office Perros Negros in which she worked in parallel to her practice organizing exhibitions, residencies and publications of mexican and international artists since 2003. In 2004/05 she received Jovenes Creadores FONCA grant to carry out NAAP, a fictional archive public art. . Since 2006 Lara has been editor-in-chief of Pazmaker, an art quarterly published in Mexico City. Lara has had one-person exhibitions at Air Paris (FR), Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler (DE), Komplot (BE), Indipendenza (IT) , 21er Haus-Belvedere, Vienna (AT) , Kunsthalle Basel (CH) Algus Greenspon, Nueva York (US), Artpace, San Antonio (US) House of Gaga (MX), Galeria Comercial (PR). Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Sculputre Center (US), Kunsthalle Wien(AT), at Kunstalle DenFrie, Copenhagen (DM) 2015, Marrakech Biennial 5th Edition, dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel (DE), Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland, MUSAC, Spain (2010), the New Museum, New York (2009), CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco (2009), and the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2003).
