Anouk Kruithof was born 1981 in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. She is educated as a photographer, but she considers photography more as a starting point of various possibilities. She makes photo, video, and spatial installations as well as social, in-situation works or “take away art.” She is a frenetic artist-bookmaker. She attended the artist in residence program Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin in 2008 and 2009 and graduated from the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost, the Netherlands, in 2003. Her awards include the Illy Public Prize at Art Rotterdam (2011) and the Grand Prix Jury and the School of Visual Arts Photo Global Prize at Festival International de Mode et de Photographie à Hyères, France (2011). Her work has been exhibited in Amsterdam, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Rotterdam, Shanghai, Sydney, and Vienna.

Anouk Kruithof is a photographic artist and bookmaker from the Netherlands. She has published six artistbooks including Playing Borders (Revolver, 2009), Becoming Blue (Revolver, 2009), The Daily Exhaustion (Kodoji Press, 2010), Happy Birthday to You (Self-published, 2011) and A head with wings (Little Brown Mushroom, 2011). She is currently shortlisted for the Emerging Artist Award, part of the new international photo prize PixSea. In 2012 she won the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award and in 2011 she won the Grand Prix Jury as well as the School of Visual Arts’ Photo Global Prize at Festival International de Mode et de Photographie à Hyères, France.
