Те из вас, дорогие соаллдэйплюсовцы, кто намерен в ближайшие дни посетить столицу Великобритании, – ещё успеют заглянуть в летний павильон лондонской Serpentine Gallery и провести свой культурный досуг как истинные англичане…Программа по созданию временных павильонов для художественной галереи Serpentine Gallery в главном парке столицы Великобритании Kensington Gardens – существует уже десять лет. Каждый год выбирается новый архитектор, преимущественно с мировым именем. Он придумывает конструкцию, в течении шести месяцев она строится, а затем все лето, до октября в ней развлекаются жители и гости Лондона. В проекте в разные годы принимали участие такие известные архитекторы как Даниэль Либескинд, Оскар Нимейер, Заха Хадид, Фрэнк Гери, Кьетиль Торсен, Алваро Сиза и Эдуардо Соуто де Моура. В этом году павильон создал французский архитектор, лауреат Притцкеровской премии, Жан Нувель .

Serpentine Gallery специализируется на организации выставок современного и авангардного искусства, однако существенную часть работы составляет и образовательная программа (например, курсы для молодежи, которые ведут известные художники), эксклюзивные проекты, различные конференции и т.д. Для посетителей работает маленькое кафе. Вокруг павильона организован парк в традициях французских публичных парков, где можно поиграть в настольный теннис, шахматы, позапускать бумажных змеев.

Ежегодно Serpentine Gallery посещают до 250 тысяч человек.
Проект существует исключительно на спонсорские деньги. В этом году его финансирует строительная компания Arup.

Serpentine Gallery для британцев – одна из любимых галерей современного искусства. При жизни ее патронировала принцесса Диана. Показательно, что первое завершенное архитектурное сооружение великого Жана Нувеля в Великобритании – это как раз павильон для галереи.

Павильон построен из консольных металлических конструкций с использованием поликарбонатного стекла и тканей. Он выкрашен в ярко-красный цвет, контрастирующий с зеленью травы и деревьев парка. Кроме того, этот цвет традиционно ассоциируется с английскими автобусами, почтовыми ящиками и телефонными будками.

La commission de la Serpentine invite un architecte renommé (le prix Pritzker) qui n’a jamais bâti en Angleterre pour concevoir un pavillon d’été. Le pavillon abrite les manifestations culturelles et pédagogiques de la galerie, comme des colloques, performances, concerts, cafés.

Le but du pavillon est de familiariser le grand public avec l’architecture, sans faire appel à des maquettes, dessins ou photos. L’architecture est sentie, touchée, vécue par le public, qui peut comparer les pavillons année après année et faire part de leurs expériences personnelles. L’architecture est vécue comme expérience engageante, personnelle et enrichissante.
La galerie offre une présentation unique de la pratique architecturale contemporaine par une équipe d’experts, en poussant les limites du langage architectural. C’est un processus qui met en parallèle la façon de concevoir et présenter des expositions d’art.

Ce processus fait suite à une longue tradition qui consiste à intervenir drastiquement sur les structures extérieures (le bâtiment) et intérieurs (les salles d’exposition) de la galerie afin de modifier la perception des visiteurs de la Serpentine et de ses environs. Architectes, ingénieurs et artistes travaillent ensemble pour le pavillon où la prouesse technique se conjugue avec l’imagination artistique.

昨日，英国蛇形画廊第十届临时建筑展正式对外开放，本次负责设计临时建筑的法国建筑师让·努维尔(Jean Nouvel).

让·努维尔在2008年获得过国际建筑届的最高奖项普利兹克奖 (Pritzker Prize)。他设计的临时展馆将呈现红色的外观，与周围环境形成戏剧性的对比。轻型材料和悬臂结构的应用也是让·努维尔设计的重要特点。

蛇形画廊的这一临时建筑设计项目从2000年开始，第一件作品由建筑师Peyto-Jones设计，去年蛇形画廊邀请的是西泽立卫与妹岛和世的SANAA设计组合。蛇形画廊的这一计划使伦敦成为了重要的试验建筑的基地，也让伦敦市民能最近距离的感受当代建筑的魅力。 从该项目开始以来，先后有众多国际顶尖建筑设计师运用不同材质参与到蛇形画廊的临时展馆的设计中来。临时展馆建成后将做为公共空间举办各种系列活动，这些活动每年夏天可以吸引到25万人次的参与。

The design contrasted lightweight materials with dramatic metal cantilevered structures, rendered in a vivid red that, in a play of opposites, contrasts with the green of its park setting. In London, the colour reflects the iconic British images of traditional telephone boxes, postboxes and London buses. The building consists of bold geometric forms, large retractable awnings and a sloped freestanding wall that stands 12m above the lawn.
Striking glass, polycarbonate and fabric structures create a versatile system of interior and exterior spaces, while the flexible auditorium accommodates the changing summer weather and Park Nights, the Serpentine’s acclaimed programme of public talks and events, which attracts up to 250,000 visitors each summer.
Nouvel’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, the architect’s first completed building in the UK, operates as a publicly accessible structure within Kensington Gardens and as a café. The pavilion design highlights the idea of play with its incorporation of traditional French outdoor table-tennis tables.
This 2010 Pavilion is the tenth commission in the gallery’s annual series, the world’s first and most ambitious architectural programme of its kind, which has become an international site for architectural experimentation and follows a long tradition of pavilions by some of the world’s greatest architects. The immediacy of the commission – a maximum of six months from invitation to completion – provides a unique model worldwide.

Jean Nouvel studied at the Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris. From 1967 to 1970, he worked as an assistant and then as project manager to the acclaimed architects Claude Parent and Paul Virilio. Nouvel has headed his own architectural practice since 1970. In 1994 he established Ateliers Jean Nouvel, which is now one of the largest architectural practices in France with offices worldwide. Ateliers Jean Nouvel specialises in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape design, industrial design and interior design. Along with the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion commission, Nouvel has recently unveiled his plans for the new National Museum of Qatar.Nouvel’s body of work is unparalleled in its innovation and range. His approach is characterised by a conceptual rigour, rather than by an overarching aesthetic. He emphasises research, analysis and discussion, creating designs that are highly individual to each project. A key part of Nouvel’s process is his embrace of other disciplines, including music, literature and the moving image.
