He started as a VJ, performing in the underground party culture of Budapest, since year 2000. He studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and at MediaLab UIAH (University of Art and Design) in Helsinki. With his early 3d-vjing (2000-2004), outrageous video projections (2005-2006) and with his first videomapping project made at Heavent Paris (2007), he belongs to the first generation of videomapping artists. Since 2006 he is working on experimental and high resolution panoramic video mapping projections, together with his main partner Ivó Kovács – ivo3d.hu – and year by year he invited more and more artist-friends into the projects. Since year 2010 he is running his projects under the name: Bordos.ArtWorks and Invited Artists. Today Bordos.ArtWorks and Invited Artists are internationally recognized as eminent representatives of video projection mapping

Mapping Festival 2013 has been happening in Geneva for the past couple of weeks. Basically artists from around the world come and showcase their projection mapping pieces or run workshops. I haven’t really shown a keen interest but I thought it would be a good idea to head to one of their bigger events to catch some creative projection mapping in action. For this particular event they would be projecting right onto the facade of the Art History Museum of Geneva. I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve only seen projection mapping online.
Since it was a large event I had a feeling it was going to packed with people so I head down there early to see if I could find some room to set up. Luckily I did, since the park across the museum was about 80% full. I managed to secure a lovely location right below one of the projection booths. Unsure of what was going to happen I initially thought some long exposures would be nice, but quickly realized that there would be bright lights projected which meant my initial shutter speed of 10seconds would overexpose everything. I quickly dropped it down to 3 seconds and just bounced around that number for the rest of the show to experiment. The photo you see above was shot at 3 seconds at f/4 with an iso of 200. I had to do a bit of processing to get things right since I underexposed the photo to compensate for all the bright lights.
