Carole A. Feuerman is recognized as one of the world’s most renowned hyperrealist sculptors. Her prolific career spans four decades. She sculpts and paints monumental, life-size, and miniature works in bronze, resin and marble. She is best known for her large outdoor painted bronze figurative pieces with water themes. She resides in New York and Florida, with studios in Manhattan and Jersey City. In 2011, she founded the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation.

Feuerman has had six museum retrospectives to date and has been included in exhibitions at the Venice Biennale, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, The State Hermitage, The Palazzo Strozzi Foundation, The Kunstmuseum Ahlen and the Circulo de Bellas Artes, among others. Notable honors received include the Amelia Peabody Award, the Betty Parsons Award, the Lorenzo de Medici Prize, first prizes at the Austrian Biennale and the Florence Biennale, Best in Show at the 2008 Beijing Biennale, the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2013 Save the Arts Museum’s Choice Award for Sculpture.

Her artwork is in public, private, and corporate collections across the world including Grounds for Sculpture, the El Paso Museum of Art, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Bass Museum, Art-st-Urban, the Forbes Magazine Collection, the Caldic Collection, and the Credit Swiss Collection. Among her patrons are His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, Henry Kissinger, and Mikhail Gorbachev.

She has taught, lectured, and given workshops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, Columbia University and Grounds for Sculpture. There are two full-color monographs of her work published by Hudson Hills Press, and in Spring of 2014, The Artist Book Foundation will publish her third. “La Scultura Incontra la Realta by Gabriele Caioni”, available in both English and Italian, is a forth solely on Feuerman. Her sculpture Grande Catalina is featured in “A History of Western Art” by Antony Mason and John T. Spike, and published by Abrams Books in twelve languages.

At the 2007 Venice Biennale, Feuerman’s monumental sculptures Survival of Serena and Grande Catalina were showcased in the solo exhibition “By the Sea” curated by John T. Spike. In 2008, the Archeological Museum in Fiesole, Italy hosted her fourth museum retrospective followed by the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation showcasing her hyper-realistically painted resin sculpture Moran in “Art and Illusion: Masterpieces of Trompe-l’oeil from Antiquity to the Present”. The year closed with her fifth retrospective “Silence-Passion-Expression” at the Amarillo Museum of Art in Texas, which was nominated by the AISEI as the best Monographic Exhibition. In 2010, the Kunstmuseum Ahlen in Germany featured Feuerman’s sculpture Monumental Shower in “Intimacy, Bathing in Art” alongside works by ninety artists including Edgar Degas, Louise Bourgeois, and Joseph Beuys. Following the close of her sixth retrospective “Earth Water Air Fire”, the El Paso Museum of Art bought her sculpture Summer as part of its permanent collection. Her bronze spheres New World – AM/PM were featured with Yoko Ono’s piece in “Afterwards and Forward: A Ten Year 9/11 Reflective Art Exhibition” at the New Jersey City University in 2011. Her most iconic monumental sculpture, Survival of Serena, painted bronze, was exhibited in 2012 in Petrosino Square, SoHo by New York City Parks & Recreation. Simultaneous to the exhibition, Feuerman created her first set of prints also featuring the image of Serena. For the 2012 Beijing Biennale, Monumental Brooke with Beach Ball was exhibited at the National Art Museum of China. Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park selected Quan, painted bronze and stainless steel, another monumental work in a show entitled “Body Double: The Figure in Contemporary Sculpture”. This past September, The Golden Mean, a towering 16-foot bronze and gold leaf diver, was purchased by the City of Peekskill after being installed by the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art.

Two solo shows took place in the Spring of 2013: KM Fine Arts, Chicago, and Jim Kempner Fine Art, NYC. The latter continues as an extraordinary outdoor exhibition at Mana Contemporary through the end of March, 2014. In the 2013 Venice Biennale, Quan was on view in the courtyard of Palazzo Bembo in the show “Personal Structures” by GlobalArtAffairs Foundation, and The Golden Mean was prominently displayed at the entrance to the Biennale in Giardini with the Concilio Europeo dell’Arte. Eight of her sculptures were showcased at the Arezzo Biennale as part of the Global Women’s 1st International Art Exhibition “Icastica 2013”. At the close of the Biennale, her sculpture Matteo was acquired by the Museo Nazionale d’Arte Medievale e Moderna for its permanent collection. In October 2013, Feuerman had a sellout collaborative solo exhibition with videographer Michelangelo Bastiani in contemporary Istanbul courtesy of Aria Gallery. The new year will see the installation of her most monumental sculpture to date, Double Diver, a forty foot bronze commissioned by NetApp, as well as an eight foot polished stainless steel and bronze sculpture commissioned by Bob and Soledad Hurst. Feuerman is currently working on five new prints as well as her latest monograph published by the Artist Book Foundation.

Trata-se de uma obra de arte — uma escultura feita de resina e pintada pela americana Carole Feuerman, considerada uma das melhores artistas hiperrealistas do mundo, com trabalhos expostos em alguns dos melhores museus que existem, como o Metropolitan, de Nova York, e o Hermitage, em São Petersburgo, na Rússia.

Entre as personalidades que possuem obras de Feuerman estão o imperador Akihito, do Japão, o ex-presidente americano Bill Clinton e sua mulher, Hillary, o ex-secretário de Estado Henry Kissinger e o ex-presidente soviético Mikhail Gorbachov.

“Sou mais conhecida por minhas escultuas hiperrealistas de nadadores e de pessoas tomando banho, minuciosas a ponto de conter cada sarda da pele e cada gota de água”, diz, com acerto, Feuerman. “Procuro esculpir a figura humana de forma tão semelhante a pessoas vivas para que as peças pareçam até respirar… ”

Para ficar no estado de perfeição que quer, a artista explica que uma peça pode requerer até 100 mãos de tinta, e lixar e polir entre cada camada, para alcançar o acabamento e a luminosidade necessários. Do começo ao fim, o processo de criar uma escultura pode levar de seis meses a vários anos.
