Christopher Bauder (born 1973) started working in the field of interactive installation art after finishing his studies in the Digital Media Class at the Berlin University of the Arts. His projects focus on the translation of bits and bytes into objects and environments and vice versa. Space, object, sound and interaction are the key elements of his work. In 2004, he founded studio WHITEvoid as a necessity to realize his large scale art pieces. The studio is comprised of specialists in interaction design, media design, product design, interior architecture and electronic engineering. Christopher Bauder has brought installations and performances to events and spaces like the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MUTEK Festival in Montreal and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan. His projects have received worldwide recognition and have won several awards including the reddot design award, iF communication design award and the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. Christopher Bauder lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Performance for a matrix of 64 illuminated gas balloons and sound
A room is filled with deep, evolving noises from a four-channel sound system. An eight-by-eight array of white, self-illuminated spheres floats in space like the atoms of a complex molecule. Through variable positioning and illumination of each atom, a dynamic display sculpture comes into being, composed of physical objects, patterns of light, and synchronous rhythmic and textural sonic events. Change, sound, and movement converge into a larger form.
The height of each helium balloon is adjusted with a computer-controlled cable winch, whilst the internal illumination is accomplished using dimmable super-bright LEDs, creating a pixel in a warped 8×8 spatial matrix.

Cambio, sonido y movimiento dan lugar a nuevas formas.
