La Exposición Internacional de Shanghai 2010

La SEEI (Sociedad Estatal de Exposiciones Internacionales) es la institución, dependiente del Estado, encargada de promover todo lo referente al pabellón de España en cada una de estas Exposiciones: Arquitectura, contenidos, difusión, publicaciones, etc.

Tras la celebración del concurso correspondiente, España apostó por un pabellón, obra de la arquitecta italiana Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT), que aúna modernidad y tradición. Su revestimiento se conforma con un material tan antiguo como el mimbre, pero el edificio es plenamente contemporáneo en cuanto a, por ejemplo, la configuración de su estructura metálica.

Benedetta Tagliabue fundó el estudio EMBT junto a su ex marido, Enric Miralles. Miralles era una de las principales figuras de la Arquitectura española, así como uno de los arquitectos de nuestro país con mayor proyección internacional. Falleció en el año 2000 con tan sólo 45 años.

A partir de entonces, Benedetta se hizo cargo del estudio en solitario y, a la vista de los resultados, de manera muy brillante.
