THE SILENT ENIGMA

A través de este trabajo nos adentramos en un escenario en el que se refleja una notable calma. El silencio lo envuelve todo y hace que esa tranquilidad no sea mas que aparente.
A primera vista no está sucediendo nada pero hay una arquitectura suspendida dentro de la cual pue- de (o no) suceder algo. Esta arquitectura parece ser el misterio escondido de la escena, sin embargo, no es mas que la fortale- za que esconde el enigma. La atención se centra en el interior de la casa. El misterio está en lo que no vemos. ¿Que se esconde ahí arriba?,..¿tal
vez nuestros miedos?, ¿la verdad de nuestra existencia?,… Las escaleras nos dan la posibilidad de acceder al interior de la arquitectura y descubrir el enigma, incluso de saber porque está
suspendida.
Aunque del mismo modo que nos alientan a subir nos lo ponen difícil al haber perdido todo contacto con lo terrenal. Esta arquitectura será para cada uno de nosotros como una Caja de Pandora.Tenemos necesidad de saber que hay dentro. ¿Nos atreveremos abrirla y arriesgarnos a que todos nuestros miedos se encuen- tren en su interior?,…o por el contrario ¿nos conformaremos con nuestra duda de saber la naturaleza del enigma?,…
Este trabajo es una reflexión sobre los problemas que nos causa una cierta percepción de la
realidad cuando ésta nos plantea mas interrogantes que respuestas.

With this work we enter a scenario which shows a noticeable calm.
Silence surrounds everything and turns tranquillity into an apparent reality. Nothing is happening at first sight but we see a floating edifice where something could (or not) be taking place inside.
This edifice seems to be the hidden mystery of the scene, though it is merely the fortress hiding the enigma. Attention is focused on the interior of the house. Mystery lies where our eyes cannot see.
What’s hidden up there?, Maybe our fears?,The truth about our existence? The stairs give us the chance to go inside and discover the enigma. It might even let us know why it is floating. But at the same time, the stairs’ complete lack of earthly contact obstructs our way up.
This edifice is like a Pandora’s box for each of us. We need to know what is inside. But do we dare open it up and take the risk that our fears may rest inside? Or will we resign ourselves to the idea of not knowing the nature of the enigma? This work reflects on the problems that arise in the viewer when a certain perception of reality is formed as a result of more questions than answers coming out of what we see.

My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues, often referencing what surrounds me or draws my attention. The medium I use is photography and I develop my projects using digital techniques.
The image is the centre of my work. It is not, however, an icon. It is rather a depiction that is constantly filtered through my own experience and personal view of the world, and repeatedly called into question as a material and emotional entity, as both presence and memory.
Each project primarily consists of a range of different images that are grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production, new areas of interest arise and lead me to my next body of work.
My projects reflect a concern with the progressive construction of social reality by the media, discernible not only in the increasing importance of the image, but also in the gradual incorporation of the “simulated world” into different realms of daily life, such as politics and culture. The critical realism of my work is generated from these reflections and I achieve it by transforming them into metaphors.
I make images that present views of contemporary life exclusive to the present moment; the result of modern, social and global concerns. My interest here focuses on the average human being’s experience and interaction with power in everyday life. I strive to create a visual manifestation of an internal resistance against these restraints, and the resulting work forms a muted acknowledgement of its existence.
