Le Land Art est une tendance de l’art contemporain, utilisant le cadre de la nature (plage, désert…), les matériaux sont le plus souvent récupérés sur place (bois, terre, pierres, sable, rocher, etc.). Le plus souvent, les œuvres sont à l’extérieur, exposées aux éléments, et soumises à l’érosion naturelle ; ainsi, la plupart des œuvres sont éphémères (une journée, un mois, une année ??) et après leur disparition il ne reste que des traces photographiques ou vidéos.

Les premières œuvres ont été réalisées dans les paysages désertiques de l’Ouest américain à la fin des années 1960. Les œuvres les plus imposantes, réalisées avec des matériaux de construction, portent le nom Gerry-Berry2d’Earthworks (littéralement terrassements).

De plus, cette tendance artistique prône l’écologie, ce qui explique son succès actuel.

Gerry Barry est irlandais et il utilise les plages et les landes de son pays natal pour réaliser ses installations. Il utilise les matériaux trouvés sur place : pierres, rochers, bois, sable, eau… Il réalise ces “Artworks in the landscape” depuis le milieu des années 70.

Il ressort de ces œuvres un sentiment de paix, d’harmonie avec la nature et il crée des paysages poétiques et surréalistes. Le paysage autour de l’œuvre prenant toute sa place dans celle-ci : mer, montagnes, plage…

Harmonie des paysages irlandais avec ces œuvres intemporelles, éléments de l’installation fusionnant avec la nature, éphémérité revendiquée, tout cela participe à l’émotion et au trouble que l’on ressent à leur vision. A vous de juger !

Вот одним из ярчайших представителей современного лэнд-арта и является художник Джерри Барри (Gerry Barry), сделавший природу Ирландии еще более восхитительной, чем она есть! Ландшафтный дизайн — это удивительное искусство, в котором талант художника должен сочетаться с восхитительными примерами великого Гения природы. В качестве примеров удачного воплощения этого принципа можно привести удивительные сады Чарльза Дженкса (Charles Jencks), гигантское рукотворное гнездо от Нильса Удо (Nils-Udo) или поэтическое видение природы от Gambastyle.

Очередным мастером лэнд-арта, о котором мы расскажем вам на сайте Культурология.РФ, стал ирландец Джерри Барри, создавший серию удивительных работ, посвященных своей родной стране.

Ирландия и так считается одним из самых восхитительных природных уголков Земли. Барри же дополнил эту красоту своими работами, органично сочетающимися с первоосновой. Причем, для создания своих работ, Джерри Барри использует натуральные элементы — камни, ветки, воду, песок, озеленение и т. д. Благодаря этому эти произведения человеческо-природного искусства могут существовать годами или даже десятилетиями, с каждым годом преображаясь и становясь еще более естественными. Более того, Барри не пытается изменять окружающую его среду, он лишь дает ей новые возможности для проявления себя. Он создает грунт, на котором взрастают удивительнейшие примеры творчества неперсонифицированного гения, имеющего имя Природа!

Water is a key element and influence in Gerry Barry’s work. Associated with purity and the source of life, Barry often creates pieces in or around water. Carefully selected rounded stones and rocks of varying size are arranged in a radius near shore lines. As the tides roll in and out the installations are variously flooded and revealed, giving the installation a fresh look each day. Other water-themed pieces are created with landscaping and digging. Circular patterns and shallow troughs are dug in ring like pattern, filling with ground water and rain to give away the artist’s chosen pattern.

Because many of his works are meant to be permanent, they are left to the mercy of the elements, decaying, aging, or slightly moving, depending on forces of wind, water and sun. Like the principles of the land art movement, the installations are meant to coexist with the elements of nature, which are themselves an ever-changing work of art. Gerry Berry’s installations harmonize with the nature, rather than disrupt it. Many of his gorgeous pieces can still be found, some of them enduring the forces and nature and civilization since they were installed in the mid 1970s.
