Batumi Aquarium

The 2,000 m2 aquarium will replace the previous aquarium of the port and will be situated on the beach side of Rustaveli Str. adjacent to Batumi 6 May Park featuring a Dolphinarium and Zoo.

Inspired by the characteristic pebbles of the Batumi beach, continually shaped by the wash of the waves through millennia, the building stands out as an iconic rock formation visible from both land and sea. The formation constitutes four self-supporting exhibition areas where each of the four stones represents a unique marine biotype – the Aegean Sea & the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Black Sea & the Red Sea and finally the more interactive exhibition space for teaching and “edutainment”.

”The building will become a landmark and an organic reference to all elements of the sea”, explains Design Director and Partner at Henning Larsen Architects, Louis Becker. “It captures the special atmosphere by the sea and thus becomes a tribute to the power of the sea!”

Batumi Aquarium will become a modern, cultural aquarium offering visitors an educational, entertaining and visually stimulating journey through the different seas. The central, multipurpose space in connection with the aquarium features a café and retail functions and its flexible layout makes it well-suited for presentations and workshops.

“It has been important for us to create a design that relates explicitly to local characteristics of Batumi while at the same time reaching out to the world”, says Anders Park, who is project manager for a number of Henning Larsen Architects’ projects in Georgia. “The aquarium interacts with its surroundings and becomes a manifestation of nature itself”.

Unfolding around the aquarium, a landscape of different sea archipelagos provides attractive opportunities for innovative outdoor research and learning as well as informal meetings along the beachfront.

Its significant expression inspired by nature will not only make Batumi Aquarium a spectacular new landmark in Georgia but also a state-of-the-art contribution to exploring life underneath the sea surface.

Construit dans le port géorgien de Batoumi, un petit coup de projecteur sur le splendide « Batumi Aquarium », un bâtiment d’une superficie de 2 000 m2 entièrement dédiée au monde sous-marin qui s’inspire de la forme et des caractéristiques des galets remodelés par le lavage des vagues sur la plage géorgienne de Batoumi. Batumi Aquarium is inspired by the characteristic pebbles of the Batumi beach – the residue of dynamic seas continually shaping the shorefront throughout millennia. The building will be situated in the Georgian port of Batumi and will stand out as an iconic rock formation – visible from both land and sea. The formation constitutes four self-supporting exhibition areas where each of the four stones represents a unique marine biotype – the Mediterranean, the Black Sea/Red Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Indian Ocean. The four dispersed aquarium exhibitions are connected by a central, multipurpose space including café, auditorium and retail functions with views of the black sea and Batumi beach as scenic backdrop. Visitors gather in the central space to convene, play, eat, shop and relax before continuing their adventures through the exhibitions. Batumi Aquarium will become a modern, cultural aquarium offering visitors an educational, entertaining and visually stimulating journey through the different seas. Para diseñar este singular acuario orgánico, Henning Larsen Architects se ha inspirado en los guijarros característicos de la playa de Batumi, en Georgia. El edificio estará situado en el puerto de Batumi y se alzará como una formación de rocas visible desde el mar y la tierra.

El edificio ofrecerá cuatro áreas de exposición y cada una de las cuatro piedras que forman su espectacular figura representará un biotipo marino diferente único: el Mediterráneo, el Mar Negro / Mar Rojo, el Mar Egeo y el Océano Índico. Las cuatro exposiciones dispersas en el acuario estarán conectadas a través de una espacio central polivalente que acogerá diferentes áreas de entretenimiento como una cafetería y un auditorio, con el Mar Negro y la playa de Batumi como telón de fondo. Un espacio que permitirá a los visitantes reunirse y relajarse para iniciar su aventura a través del acuario.

В грузинском портовом городе Батуми будет построен блестящий Батумский Аквариум (“Batumi Aquarium”) – это причудливое сооружение, 2 000 m2 площадью, полностью посвященное подводному миру. Аквариум имеет форму гальки, которой устланы пляжи в Батуми. Здание спроектировано датской архитектурной студией Henning Larsen Architects, которая получила к тому же первый приз конкурса архитекторов Университета Kolding благодаря этому проекту.

Bốn không gian trưng bày này được kết nối bởi một không gian đa chức năng, gồm một không gian cà phê hiện đại, một khán phòng, và một khu vực bán lẻ. Với thiết kế như này tạo ra một không gian ấn tượng việc thăm quan kết hợp với nghỉ ngơi tại không gian nhà trưng bày sinh vật biển Batumi, một điều hết sức tuyệt vời và thú vị.

Công trình này sẽ trở thành hồ cá hiện đại, văn hóa cung cấp cho du khách một hành trình giáo dục, giải trí và kích thích trực quan thông qua hình ảnh các vùng biển khác nhau.

Điểm nhấn của công trình này chính là ấy cảm hứng từ thiên nhiên sẽ không những làm cho nhà trưng bày sinh vật biển Batumi thành một điểm nhấn mới ngoạn mục ở Georgia, mà còn đóng góp một công trình nghệ thuật nhằm khám phá cuộc sống dưới đại dương bao la. Eine Gruppe gigantischer Kiesel wird bald am Strand der georgischen Stadt Batumi liegen. Was ausschaut wie von einer Riesenwelle angespülte und glattgeschliffene Steine, ist der Siegerentwurf des Wettbewerbs für ein Aquarium von Henning Larsen Architects. Damit verwies das dänische Büro seine Wettbewerbskonkurrenten, die deutschen Drei Architekten sowie die Amerikaner PJA Architects und Pryor & Morrow Architects auf die hinteren Plätze.



Der 2.000 Quadratmeter große Gebäudekomplex liegt direkt an der Küste des Schwarzen Meeres und ersetzt das alte Aquarium. Neben Fischbecken und einem Zoo wird der Bau auch ein Delfinarium beherbergen. Dass sich die Kopenhagener Baumeister für ihren Entwurf von dem örtlichen Kieselstrand haben beeinflussen lassen, ist unschwer zu erkennen. Nach Aussagen der Architekten soll sich die gebaute Steinformation zu einer Landmarke entwickeln, die mit ihrer organischen Form eine Beziehung zu allen Meereselementen herstelle.

„Der Bau fängt die spezielle Atmosphäre am Meer ein und wird dadurch zu einer Hommage an die Kraft des Meeres“, so Louis Becker, Partner bei Henning Larsen. Angesichts dieses poetischen Anspruchs bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass Poseidon die Kiesel-Skulptur nicht irgendwann per Monsterwoge heim in sein Reich holt.

O escritório dinamarquês Henning Larsen Architects foi o vencedor do concurso internacional para um novo aquário na região de Batumi, na Georgia. O projeto, segundo os autores, foi inspirado em seixos, “cujas formas são moldadas continuamente pelas ondas da praia de Batumi”. O edifício foi concebido como uma formação rochosa – como uma combinação de seixos gigantes – que podem ser vistos da terra ou do mar. Cada uma dos quatro “seixos” principais que compõem a forma representam um biotipo marinho. A ideia, segundo os arquitetos responsáveis pelo projeto é que a edificação, de 2.000 m2, seja um “aquário moderno e que ofereça aos visitantes uma jornada estimulante pelos mares, do ponto de vista educacional, do entretenimento e também visual. O espaço central, multiuso, é reservado a atividades comerciais e um café, assim como oferece flexibilidade para a realização de apresentações e oficinas. Ainda segundo os autores: “Ao redor do aquário, uma paisagem marcada por arquipélagos oferece oportunidades atrativas para atividades de pesquisa e de educação a céu aberto, assim como encontros informais na beira da praia. Sua forma expressiva, inspirada na natureza, faz do Aquário de Batumi não apenas um monumento espetacular na Georgia, mas uma contribuição inovadora para a exploração da vida marinha.”

덴마크의 대표적인 건축사무실, 헨닝 라슨 아키텍츠(Henning Larsen Architects)가 조지아(Georgia)의 바투미(Batumi)지역의 아쿠아리움 디자인 컴피티션에서 바투미 바닷가의 조약돌을 연상시키는 기발한 디자인으로 당선되었습니다. 바투미 아쿠아리움 컴피티션은 독일 건축회사 Drei Architekten와 건축회사 PJA Architects와 Pryor & Morrow Architects 그리고 덴마크의 헨링 라슨 건축회사 등의 4개의 팀이 초청되어 경합을 벌였으며, 최종적으로 덴마크의 헨링 라슨의 디자인안이 당선되었습니다. 이 아쿠아리움의 부지는 바투미 해변과 흑해가 바라다보이는 해변에 위치합니다. 헨닝 라슨은 바투미 해변이라고 하면 가장 먼저 떠올리게 되는 조약돌을 이 아쿠아리움의 디자인 모티브로 삼았습니다. 천년이 넘는 세월동안 파도에 위해 깍이고 깍여서 그 둥그런 자태를 드러내고 있는 바투미 해변 조약돌의 특이한 형태를 그대로 공간화시킨 사례인데요. 미래지향적이면서도 자연의 냄새를 그대로 잘 담아낸 인상적인 디자인으로 시공도 시작되기 전에 이미 화제가 된 바투미 아쿠아리움 디자인을 이번 기사에서 살펴보고자 합니다.

Ecco il primo classificato per il concorso di un nuovo acquario a Batumi, in Georgia. Il progetto è dello studio danese Henning Larsen Architecte, l’edificio prende come riferimento le pietre tipiche del lungomare della città ed il richiamo alle pietre appare evidente nei prospetti e nel concept. Ogni pietra contiene al proprio interno le vasche e gli spazi espositivi differenziati per le aree geografiche di provenienza dei pesci mentre lo spazio centrale contiene la hall e gli spazi di distribuzione.
