Jaakko Pallasvuo uses the internet as both the subject of his artistic practice and a platform for actualizing it. His work is about how it feels to self-represent online in a networked attention economy, navigated with an online persona that embraces a lack of control over circulation and the potential to be publicly disagreed with, lambasted or trolled. At the heart of his practise is enthusiastic quandary. Pallasvuo’s work spans video, writing, ceramics and image production, but skirts style or cohesion in favour of a search for wider fields of knowledge.
Jaakko Pallasvuo, born 1987, is a Finnish artist based in Helsinki and Berlin and a BFA graduate of the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Selected solo exhibitions include LARGELY ABANDONED CONVENTIONAL TITLES (BLUEBERRY-ACAI EDM + OMEGA-3) at The Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas (2014), Nu Painting at Future Gallery in Berlin (2013), Allegra Geller at Dos Perros Projects in Chicago (2013) and Tweed (with Henna Hyvärinen) at W139 in Amsterdam (2012).
