These lustrous photos by Finland’s own Juha Arvid Helminen, exhibit a Nazi-esque “Invisible Empire”. Like the invisible man these soldiers are faceless, giving a menacing presence. Placed in an all dark back drop with as little light as possible, the effect is un-romanticized, empty, gritty, and provokes a kind of loneliness only felt amongst the unidentified.

Juha Arvid Helminen is a photographer hailing from Finland and self professed ‘artist hooked on humans, movies, coca cola, and my girlfriend’ (maybe not necessarily in that order). This series of images entitled Invisible Empire features monochrome photographs which use themes of rigidity, structure and faceless humans interacting to convey a message about the (mis)use of power in religion and politics.

Labākais filosofiskās domas izpildījums, ko jebkad esmu redzējusi. Bez uzkrītošiem pārspīlējumiem. Izcila kvalitāte un skaidra doma. Ideoloģijas, fanātisms, reliģija un dzīves sūtība. Bezpersoniski un ļoti dziļi personiski.
