KATERINA VINCOUROVA
source: jirisvestka
For several years Katerina Vincourova has been a conspicuous personality among the youngest generation of artists in this country. Her work always attracts the attention of the public, its magic addresses and fascinates them but it also seems as if she is able to evoke negative emotion and sometimes even disgust. The seemingly naive simplicity of Vincourova installations, in fact, provide an intensive testimony of the impossibility of open communication, of hopelessness, vulnerability and of the flight and general dehumanisation of modern society. Vincourova seems to have one general theme, namely the distinction between inter-persona relationships, solitude, love, marriage, leisure time, boredom and hope. Katerina Vincourova is able to formulate the sentiments of her generation with an effective language rid of intellectual dead weight.

Education
1986-1988 V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute
1988-1994 Academy of Fine Arts in Prague
Kateřina Vincourová has introduced distinctive female themes to contemporary art. While providing a critical commentary on consumerist culture, her objects also reflect a girl’s romanticism. She creates inflatable objects, switching the positions of inside and outside and thus posing the question as to what degree the objects manipulate their users.
