Lara Kim was born in a coastal Oregon town in 1991. She is currently pursuing a BFA degree in Sculpture at the University of Oregon and is set to graduate in June 2015. Her work orbits concepts surrounding the articulation and actualization of personal narratives and their function in constructing one’s identity. She excavates moments from her own personal history and narrativizes them to speak on broader themes of mixed identity, gender, race, desire, and binaries, and often incorporates materials that can be purchased with food stamps from local Asian markets.
