For the more narcissistic among us taking a snapshot everyday is nothing, but for Indonesian photographer Mikael Aldo the daily 366 Photo Project was an opportunity to flex his creative muscles. While other teens are Instagramming every waking moment, Aldo’s approach was a bit different, tackling themes from hopeful, dream-like subjects, to the more morbid end of the spectrum.

Things start off with Aldo capturing still lifes early on, then transition to increasingly surreal compositions later down the line. He’s currently on day 299 of the photo project, but you can follow along with the Flickr stream as he goes for the full 365 annual, plus one.

Like his fellow teen photo enthusiasts, Indonesia-based photographer Mikael Aldo has embarked on a 366 Project, requiring him to share a photo everyday for a year. The young photographer, though admittedly new to the artistic realm of photography, manages to visualize his creative imagination. Aldo’s emotionally-charged images are as much a learning process as an expressive outlet, giving audiences a glimpse of his ability to evoke emotions.

The young photographer captures his models both indoors and outdoors, drawing a variety of raw emotions, surreal expressions, and whimsically playful dispositions within his expanding portfolio. His portraits offer stunning documents of human sentiments—ranging from the despondent to the passionate. Despite being a newcomer, Aldo has quickly learned photo techniques incorporated by some of the best to heighten these feelings and this is all while balancing his other life as a student.

Индонезийский художник Микаэль Алдо (Mikael Aldo) занимался созданием фотоцикла “366 Project” ровно год. Приступив к работе 1 января 2012-го, Алдо ежедневно публиковал одну новую фотографию. “Этот год полностью изменил мою жизнь”, – признался Алдо в итоге.

“366 Project” – первый крупный проект в карьере Алдо: начинающему фотографу сейчас всего шестнадцать лет. Тем не менее, лучшие его работы демонстрируют наличие незаурядного дарования и задатки собственного стиля. Критики отмечают, что у Алдо прекрасно развито воображение, которое он с успехом использует при создании своих сюрреалистических творений.

“В начале года я отправился в увлекательное путешествие, которое изменило мою художественную карьеру. У меня не хватает слов, чтобы описать, как много оно для меня значит!”, – такими словами Алдо в своем блоге подвел “итоги” 2012-го года. В ходе работы над “Проектом 366” Алдо не только работал, но и учился: просматривая все работы подряд, можно проследить становление молодого художника.

Например, только в ходе работы над проектом Алдо осознал, что его призвание – портретная фотография. Начиная с пейзажей, постепенно он полностью перешел на портреты. Люди на его фотографиях выглядят эмоционально, они переживают, фантазируют и чувствуют, и вместе с ними начинает испытывать те же эмоции и зритель.

Индонезия – страна, славная своей величественной природой и древними традициями, такими, как ритуальные спортивные состязания под названием Sepak Bola Api. Креативный фотопроект Микаэля Алдо свидетельствует о том, что и художественная жизнь в азиатской стране находится в расцвете. Сам молодой фотограф благодаря “366 Project” не только серьезно пополнил портфолио, но и получил первую в своей жизни работу – надо полагать, в будущем поклонники художественной фотографии еще услышат его имя.

Mikael Aldo n’a que 16 ans mais est déjà très talentueux. Avec un peu de technique et beaucoup de passion et d’imagination, ce photographe Indonésien a donné une nouvelle dimension à l’année qui vient de passer en y tenant à jour un projet 365. Une photo par jour pendant 12 mois, et voila qu’on découvre un talent qui vaut le détour. L’artiste a lui même dis que 2012 était vraiment une année exceptionnel qui lui a permit de murir et d’apprendre beaucoup.
