Olya Oleinic (1991, Moldavië) experimenteert graag met kwesties die in haar ogen paradoxaal zijn. Zelf zegt ze daarover: “Ik aarzel veel, waardoor er veel grijs gebied ontstaat. Maar er valt zo veel te beleven tussen het zwart en het wit, waarom zou je dat buitensluiten?” In haar afstudeerproject voor de KABK heeft ze deze stijl en werkwijze nog verder aangewakkerd.

In de beeldtaal van Oleinic wordt de banaliteit van het consumentisme en de overdaad aan informatie (of misschien is het beter om te spreken van ‘data’) waar we dagelijks mee geconfronteerd worden op hyper-esthetische wijze benadrukt. Hoewel haar werk zich door een creatieve weidsheid laat kenmerken is er wel degelijk een rode draad. Met schijnbaar speels gemak combineert ze vormen, kleuren en contrasterende subjecten. Het op die manier samenstellen van beelden levert telkens weer een onbekende wereld vol spanning op.
