The passion of light
Zumtobel implemented this unique lighting sculpture following an idea developed jointly by architect Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher. VorteXX is a perfect symbiosis of organic lines and a surprisingly dynamic modulation of light colours.

The design
This impressive design is based on the vision of an infinite ribbon of light. Its charismatically curved outlines remind the beholder of a double helix and seem like a continuously flowing form – weightless, impulsive and radiant. The vibrant luminosity of its dynamic lighting enhances this impression even further. The chandelier’s light colour changes continuously and barely perceptibly.

Dimensions and installation
The 2 m high and 1.5 m wide luminaire unit consists of more than 60 individually molded components, which combine to form a 12 m long continuous strand. By means of a special suspension assembly, the chandelier can be flush-fitted on the ceiling. A translucent acrylic glass cover has been inserted into its highly specular surface made of fibre glass-reinforced polyester to achieve uniform light distribution and optimum colour mixture.

Lighting solutions – endless harmony
LED modules producing indirect light in a variety of shades allow precise adjustment of colours. In combination with a lighting management system, an infinite variety of lighting scenes can be programmed. The indirect light consistently follows the spiral design of the chandelier, impressively emphasizing its smoothly flowing lines. In addition to coloured indirect light, a white LED light line with a downward beam brings out the organic form of the luminous art object. Thanks to this well-balanced combination of dynamic lines with sensuously coloured and at the same time brilliantly white light, VorteXX communicates harmonious lighting scenes to its environment and has a lasting influence on the emotional well-being of its beholders.

The Vortexx chandelier is manufactured by hand in a limited edition of 25. It is offered for sale through art galleries and auction houses. At an auction in the London auction house of Phillips de Pury, for instance, the chandelier recently fetched a record price of nearly € 200,000.- plus auction fee.

Cette lampe est fabriquée à partir de 60 moulages individuels et des tous derniers modules de LED permettant de générer de la lumière indirecte dans différentes teintes.

Un système de gestion de la lumière imaginé par l’extra-terrestre le designer permet de programmer toutes sortes d’atmosphères lumineuses.

Née en Octobre 1950, Zaha HADID est une anglaise d’origine irakienne. Elle a étudié les mathématiques à l’université américaine de Beyrouth puis l’architecture à ‘Architectural Association School of Architecture ‘ de Londres où elle a enseigné. Zaha HADID crée sa propre agence en 1980.

En 2004, Zaha HADID fut la première femme à obtenir le prix de Pritzker. Elle a ensuite obtenu le Stirling Prize, un très prestigieux prix décerné par le Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) pour sa dernière réalisation le MAXXI (Musée des Arts du XXIe siècle) à Rome, sans oublier les expositions qu’elle a effectué un peu partout dans le monde.

Parmi les créations de la designer hors norme Zaha HADID on reconnait le chandelier Vortexx Lustre et le robinet Triflow qui se distinguent par des formes très insolites et des lignes étendues ainsi que des courbes qui rappellent une double hélice.

la lámpara “Vortexx”, diseñada por los arquitectos Zaha Hadid y Patrik Schumacher. La lámpara de techo se presenta como una cinta de luz infinita que recorre la habitación, ingrávida pero veloz y enérgica. Este efecto se consigue mediante un trazado oscilante combinado con una modulación dinámica de los colores de la luz.

El color de la luz cambia de forma continua y prácticamente imperceptible, pasando de rojo a amarillo y después a azul. Este cambio preciso de los colores se consigue con un módulo de LED, que emite luz indirecta de varias tonalidades. En la parte inferior de la cinta lumínica se aprecia una línea iluminada que sigue el contorno oscilante del diseño, y de la luz emitida surge el cambio luminoso de colores. Se observan dos detalles interesantes: por un lado, la luz blanquecina acentúa el contorno del diseño y, por el otro, la modulación controlada de los colores otorga a la lámpara un aire mágico que inunda inmediatamente toda la sala.

Все модели, по сути являющиеся светящимися произведениями прикладного искусства, изготавливаются вручную, снабжаются сертификатом и несмываемой подписью авторов.
Такие знаменитые архитекторы и дизайнеры, как Заха Хадид (Zaha Hadid) и Патрик Шумахер (Patrik Schumacher) смогли реализовать свои смелые идеи в сотрудничестве с фирмой Sawaya & Moroni, создав на базе светодиодных технологий цветодинамическую люстру “Vortexx”. Она была изготовлена в трех экземплярах, один из которых был включен в коллекцию “Masterpieces”. После демонстрации в нью-йоркском музее Гугенхейма люстра была отмечена почетным европейским дизайнерским призом “Light of the Future”. В мае 2007 года прототип “Vortexx” был продан на венском аукционе в одну из ближневосточных стран за небывало высокую цену – 139 000 евро.
