Shiro Matsui, born in 1960 in Nara, Japan, is one of a new generation of artists who have a site-specific approach, working within an intercultural, historical, scientific and architectural framework.
This book presents the aesthetic experiences of Matsui in Krefeld; here the artist combined the flowing concept of architecture of Mies van der Rohe with natural laws of science. Her work reveals a perceptive strategy shaped by Asia that is both sensual and corporal.

A graduate of the University of Arts of the City of Kyoto, sculpture department in 1986.
Lives in Kyoto.
His works and installations have been exhibited in private galleries, museums and public spaces worldwide.
Exploring new ways of perceiving and experiencing the space is at the heart of his artistic approach around the concept of the relationship between inside and outside.
