Born in Seoul, Korea, Soo Sunny Park moved to the U.S. at the age of eleven and grew up in Marietta, GA and Orlando, FL. Park received her B.F.A. in painting and sculpture from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio and a M.F.A. in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. After a residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, ME (2000), she worked in St. Louis, Missouri as an installation artist and as a Lecturer at the Washington University, School of Art. In 2001, Park was selected as the River Front Times “Best of 2001, Sculptor of St. Louis”. She is a recipient of a Joan Mitchell M.F.A. Grant, The 19th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition Grand Prize, The Helen Foster Barnett Prize from The National Academy Museum, New York, NY (2008), and The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Fellowship (2010).

Her selected solo shows include: Liminal Possession, Good Citizen Gallery, St. Louis, MO; Fractal Immersion, Reeves Contemporary, Chelsea, NY; Liminal Engagement, FireHouse Gallery, Burlington, VT; Bio-Structure: Metro-Geo, Kranzberg Exhibition, Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis, MO; and Transmission, FCA 2001-02 Project, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, MO. Upcoming projects include a September 2011 exhibition at the deCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

Sunny Park Soo est connue pour son utilisation des matériaux de construction du quotidien tels que l’isolation, les cloisons, des moustiquaires, etc. pour créer des installations expérimentales interactives.

Née à Séoul, en Corée, Sunny Park Soo a déménagé avec sa famille aux Etats-Unis à l’âge de onze ans et a grandi à Marietta, GA et Orlando, Floride. Park a reçu son B.F.A. dans la peinture et la sculpture au Columbus College of Art and Design à Columbus, Ohio et une maîtrise en sculpture de la Cranbrook Academy of Art de Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Après une résidence à l’école Skowhegan de Peinture et de Sculpture, ME (2000), elle a travaillé à Saint-Louis, et à la Washington School of Art University en 2001. Elle vit actuellement à Hanover, NH et est professeur agrégé de l’Art Studio à Dartmouth College. Les oeuvres de Sunny Park Soo reposent sur la répétition et l’interaction de la lumière avec les matériaux.

La galerie se transforme en un espace curviligne sans angles, avec des grappes de dômes donnant au spectateur la sensation d’être dans un espace confiné et sur le terrain largement ouvert dans le même temps, où l’on peut s’aventurer au-delà de l’espace physique propre.

Nata a Seul, in Corea, Soo Sunny Park vive da quando era bambina negli Stati Uniti. Attualmente vive nel New Hampshire, dove lavora e insegna al Dartmouth College.
Le sue sculture e installazioni sono davvero mozzafiato: maestose realizzazioni con giochi di superfici e materiali, patterns geometrici e tridimensionali in cui perdersi con gli occhi.
