O atelier Urbanscreen desenvolveu uma instalação de média, de dimensões pouco usuais, no Gasómetro de Oberhausen, Alemanha. A instalação 320° Licht faz uso de cerca de duas dezenas de projetores de alta definição e de tecnologia de projection mapping, para transformar o amplo espaço de 118 metros de altura e 68 metros de diâmetro numa catedral de arte multimédia e realidade aumentada.
O Gasómetro de Oberhausen é um antigo reservatório de gás que foi convertido em espaço de exposições, recebendo eventos de grandes dimensões, possuindo uma área superior a 7 mil metros quadrados. Foi classificado como património industrial da região do Ruhr.
A área total de projeção é de 20 mil metros quadrados, o que requereu a ajuda da fabricante de equipamento de projeção, Epson. A instalação conta com uma das maiores e mais sofisticadas redes de projeção do mundo e tem uma duração de 22 minutos.

Höhepunkt der Ausstellung ist die Installation „320° Licht“ der Bremer Künstlergruppe URBANSCREEN. Die größte Innenraum-Projektion der Welt verwandelt das Innere des Gasometers in eine Kathedrale aus Formen und Licht. Sie strahlt 100 Meter hoch strahlt auf einer Fläche von drei Fußballfeldern. Sternenhaft schwebende Punkte, leuchtende Säulen und sich scheinbar dreidimensional ineinander verwebenden Flächen: Rund 20 Minuten dauert das visuelle Spektakel, bei dem der Betrachter Teil ein ständig fortlaufendes Wechselspiel zwischen realem und virtuellem Raum erlebt.

“320 Licht” es el nuevo proyecto de URBANSCREEN. Se hicieron conocidos internacionalmente a través de las espectaculares iluminaciones en la Ópera de Sydney (Australia), la Universidad de Rice en Houston (EE.UU.) y el sonido y las composiciones de luz en la Kunsthalle de Hamburgo, el barrio del arte de Viena y en la Bauhaus en Dessau.
El espacio interior del Gasómetro de Oberhausen es el punto de partida de un juego fascinante propuesto por URBANSCREEN un grupo de artistas de Bremen, Alemania, que utiliza este un gran espacio para organizar una instalación de luz, un juego con las formas y la luz. La instalación ” 320 Licht ” es un espectáculo de luz y sonido en un radio de 320 grados con patrones gráficos que crecen y cambian en los 100 metros de altura de la pared interior del Gasómetro.

Con el apoyo para el proyecto de Epson Alemania, URBANSCREEN despliega su propuesta en los aproximadamente 20.000 metros cuadrados de este espacio. La instalación es una de las proyecciones interiores más grandes y técnicamente más sofisticadas del mundo (con la interconexión de 21 proyectores de gran alcance en una pantalla de proyección). De installatie van de kunstenaarsgroep URBANSCREEN uit Bremen neemt de kathedraalachtige schoonheid van de Gasometer als uitgangspunt voor een fascinerend spel van vorm en licht. In een radius van 320 graden wisselen op de 100 meter hoge binnenwand van de Gasometer grafische afbeeldingen elkaar af en brengen veranderingen aan de objecten aan. De toeschouwer beleeft een wisselspel tussen realiteit en een virtuele ruimte, waarbij de Gasometer lijkt op te lossen in zijn eigen, filigraan aandoende structuren en toch ook steeds weer zijn eigen duidelijke vorm terugvindt. De expositie “320º licht” wordt met projectietechnologie van Epson gerealiseerd. Met een ”bespeelde” oppervlakte van zo’n 20.000 m2 behoort deze installatie tot de grootste en technisch gezien meest pretentieuze interieurprojectie wereldwijd.

L’installation «320° Lumière» du groupe artistique URBANSCREEN, implanté à Brême, utilise comme point de départ la beauté et le caractère de cathédrale du Gazomètre pour créer un jeu fascinant de volumes et de lumière. Des motifs graphiques se développent et se transforment dans un rayon de 320 degrés sur la paroi intérieure du Gazomètre d’une hauteur de 100 mètres. Le spectateur assiste alors à une alternance entre un espace réel et un espace virtuel, le Gazomètre semble se dissoudre dans ses propres structures filigranes pour finalement retrouver continuellement sa forme distincte. «320 ° Lumière» est réalisée à partir d’une technologie de projection Epson. L’installation couvrant une surface de 20 000 mètres carré fait partie des projections intérieures les plus grandes et en terme de technique les plus complexes.

The artistic climax of the exhibition is the “320° Light” installation by the group of artists URBANSCREEN from Bremen. It takes the cathedral-like beauty of the Gasometer as the starting point for a fascinating game with shapes and light. Within a radius of 320 degrees, graphic patterns grow and change on the 100-metre high interior wall of the Gasometer. The observer experiences a non-stop interplay between real and virtual space, in which the Gasometer seems to dissolve into its own structures and yet finally repeatedly reverts to its clear shape.
Points, lines and areas trace the elementary components of the surrounding architecture. From single dimensionality to three-dimensionality within the scene setting an imaginary space is developed. The basic graphic elements predominantly appear as a white full tone and reveal their second function when in the illuminated square the characteristic blackish-brown surface of the interior becomes recognisable.

Sounds fed in via seven channels supplement the space-defining effect of the installation. The composition is built up on the existing room sound and its natural resonance and hence forms an organic unity with the visual level of the work .With more than 20,000 square metres of area played upon, the installation is among the world’s largest and technically most sophisticated interior projections.
