Statement: Italian artist Willy Verginer creates enchanting figurative sculptures. His pieces are often sole figures, the forms of people delicately positioned. These lifelike sculptures are typically carved from solid linden wood then painted with acrylic paint. Their subtle but strange gestures coupled with unexpected objects give the sculptures a quietly surreal atmosphere. Verginer’s peculiar style of painting his work adds to each piece’s enigmatic quality. Rather than realistically paint each individual detail, Verginer applies large swaths of color to his sculptures. The pieces nearly seem to be dipped in pools of pigment. These large fields of color work in contrasting against the realism of each sculpture.

Скульптуры Вилли Верджинера (Willy Verginer) отчасти сходны с аналогичными произведениями современных скульпторов, делающими акцент на реалистичность изображений, но работы Верджинера отличаются особой нотой сюрреалистичности и сакральности смысла, заключённого в каждой такой деревянной скульптуре.
Вилли Верджинер родился 23 февраля 1957 года в Брессаноне, Италия. Именно поэтому технику обработки дерева и создания из него скульптурных изображений Вилли Верджинер, как и его соотечественник, Арон Деметз (Aron Demetz), почерпнул из опыта традиций южно-тирольских мастеров, прославившихся своим искусством ещё в 17в.
В отличие от работ Bruno Walpoth, свои деревянные скульптуры Вилли Верджинер не доводит до гиперреализма, оставляя некоторую незавершённость и шероховатость поверхностей. Но он нашёл свою нишу в искусстве создания деревянных изображений, свою концепцию, которая выделяет его и делает запоминающимся.
Его скульптуры отличаются сильной связью с окружающим нас миром, и проявляется это не только в том, что выполнены они из дерева, но и в подтексте изображений. Выделение определённых зон на скульптурных телах с помощью цвета или рельефного декоративного орнамента не случайно и призвано акцентировать внимание зрителя на той мини-истории, что рассказывает своими работами автор.
Таким образом, скульптор показывает те зоны в теле человека, которые задействованы в данный момент, испытывают какие-либо чувства, взаимодействуют с внешней средой и отзываются на это соприкосновение с окружающим миром. Вилли Верджинер, раскрашивая свои деревянные скульптуры, чьи позы достаточно статичны и сравнимы с древнеримскими портретными изваяниями, привносит в них жизнь и эмоциональность.
Чувства деревянных скульптурных изображений легко прочитываются, если соединить при восприятии фантазию и логичность мышления. Это могут быть стопы ног, испытывающие блаженство от соприкосновения с травой, или же душа, которая откликнулась на красоту чувства любви или дружбы. Не менее эмоциональны и изображения животных, в которых так же читается осмысленность образа.
Кролики как символ нежности и приятных ощущений, бык как символ загрязнения окружающей среды. При этом, то ноги быка уходят в зелёное – образ природы-прародительницы, а верхняя её часть под гнётом чёрного – образ индустриализации и её последствий. То, напротив – ноги быка потонули в черноте промышленных отходов, в то время как сам он остаётся цвета чистого отшлифованного дерева – символ чистоты и архаичности.
Вилли Верджинер ведёт постоянный диалог со зрителем, заставляет думать, делать выводы, воздействует на психофизическое восприятие посредством визуализации мыслей. Его концепция арт-терапии для души воплощена виртуозно и ненавязчиво.

Artist Willy Verginer lives and works in a small town called Ortisei in South Tyrol, Italy. His figurative sculptures are carved from solid pieces of lindenwood and often painted with acrylic or accompanied by additional materials. Willy Verginer was born in 1957 in Italy. He lives and works in Ortisei. Willy Verginer attended the Academy of Monaco environments. With such a distinctive style, it’s no wonder that the artworks of Willy Verginer has found international support and has been exhibited in important museums and galleries around the world. Lately, from June to September 2011 Willy Verginer was invited to the 54th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale to represent the Region of Trentino Alto Adige.
The wooden sculptures of Willy Verginer are worked in full relief in the round. The sculptures of Willy Verginer rise up with all their mass, volume, and the weight of their material in the space they are placed in. The forms created by Willy Verginer seem concerned only with themselves and their own internal system of formal relationships and meanings. The sharp and embattled handling with which Willy Verginer provokes and caresses wood does not result in anything ancient. Willy Verginer does not make statues; he creates indeed images in action.

Empezamos el domingo hablando del magnífico trabajo de Willy Verginer (1957). El artista italiano crea hermosas esculturas en madera, a tamaño natural, con vocación de contar historias de corte surrealista. Generalmente las obras Verginer están talladas de una sola pieza y con gran maestría logra dotarlas de complejos detalles como los pliegues de la ropa o las arrugas. En ocasiones las esculturas forman impresionantes conjuntos que requieren de grandes instalaciones. Otro aspecto a destacar es la utilización de la pintura en sus obras, pues se decanta por colores segmentados que cubren únicamente áreas concretas de sus figuras, combinándolas en muchos casos con el propio tono natural de la madera.

Az olasz nemzetiségű művész kreációi az első pillanattól fogva csodálattal töltöttek el. Életnagyságú fatömbökbe lehel életet: hús-vér embereket, sorsokat farag. Számomra érzéseket, pillanatokat konzervál.
A csend elevenen él szobrai körül; mégis: a mozdulatok, a színek, a kompozíciós játék történetet kezd mesélni. Az alakok többségében van egy furcsa ünnepélyesség, amitől a hétköznapi jelenetek nívója is emelkedetté válik. Egyszerre modern és antik. A minimalista hatást gyönyörűen oldja az ornamentikák és a barokkos stíluselemek megjelnése. Érdekes, elgondolkodtató, és lenyűgöző megfogalmazása ez a földi világnak.
