Renowned international architecture firm Zaha Hadid Architects has envisioned a remarkable set of pavilions in Changsha, China designated for celebrating the arts. The conceptual plans for Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Art Centre were unveiled, revealing three modern buildings serving as an innovative cultural complex. The eye-catching landscape consists of a Grand Theatre, a Contemporary Art Museum, and a Multipurpose Hall (sometimes referred to as the Small Theatre). Each structural space offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to partake in culturally creative activities.

The main venue of the ambitious project is the Grand Theatre, which is designed to seat 1,800 guests. With this space, the London-based firm proposes to provide an architectural setting that functions as a host to “world-standard performances” fully equipped with the expected amenities of such an establishment; including bars, restaurants, and VIP hospitality.

The Museum is intended for art exhibitions both indoors and outdoors. Its distinct interior design incorporates an atrium, allowing visitors to take in the “patchworks of gallery spaces.” Alternatively, the Small Theatre’s purpose is flexibly undefined. It is meant to operate as an adaptive space that can accommodate a variety of roles, from commercial events and fashion shows to banquets and small plays.

Despite the diversity of the buildings’ functions, they are collaborative and complementing. The project states: “Although these civic institutions are uniquely defined and separate, they supply each other in all respects within its setting with plazas offering visitors a tapestry-like sequence of urban ambiances that relate to the different institutions, inject the site with urban vitality.”

El proyecto comenzó a construirse en Octubre de 2012 y tendrá un teatro con 1800 ubicaciones, un museo de arte contemporáneo y un teatro o centro de arte más pequeño. Cada edificio se planea como un grupo de pétalos que se curvan alrededor uno de otro para crear una plaza central y una serie de jardines, terrazas y caminos conectados entre sí.

Zaha Hadid Architects ganó la licitación en 2011 que se encuentra enfrente a la Isla Festival en el puente Meixi Lake. Como parte del proyecto, los arquitectos agregarán 2 puentes peatonales que conducirán a la isla.
El Gran Teatro será el edificio más grande de los 3 edificios y estará en la entrada del lugar mientras el teatro o espacio de arte pequeño tendrá 500 ubicaciones y se abrea un patio interno lleno de tiendas y restaurantes.

El museo está previsto para el borde del camino Meixihu y tendrá un atrio central que se separa para formar tres alas. De un lado, la galería conducirá a una plaza externa que servirá para exibir esculturas o como un espacio para eventos.

湖南省省会人口增长速度和城市发展速度都令人惊叹！梅溪湖风光秀丽，现在位于其价值一千三百万亿美元的刺激方案核心的是，准备雄心勃勃地建设一组文化项目。2012年十月，扎哈·哈迪德（zaha hadid）参加“长沙梅溪湖国际文化艺术中心”的获奖作品——用蛇一般弯曲的曲线勾勒出的包含有现代艺术博物馆，多功能大厅，酒店以及各种辅助设施在内的综合性建筑，破土动工。中央广场力图打破呆板的都市生活，尽力营造更多便利的聚会场地，通过雕塑花园及广阔的展览空间来增加文化的厚重感。博物馆由三个花瓣组成，围绕中庭展开。上釉的玻璃犹如一条条缎带，与露台一道向湖面延展，同时也使阳光可以照进美术馆中。多功能区内可进行各项活动，在这个“沉没”的庭院中，人们可以做零售小生意，各家饭店也是鳞次栉比。该建筑的焦点还是那宏大的剧院，计划容纳1800个座席， 成为城市最大的演出中心。三大主建筑，虽然各居一方，但也通过蜿蜒的通道，弯曲的白色平面及具有巴洛克风格的建筑相互连接在一起。于此同时，颜色，绿化带及引人注目的形状也将三大独立的建筑合而为一。
