After / Binary Interpretation: After Paul Gauguin, After Vincent van Gogh in Arles – Japan

This video work is part of the After/Binary Interpretation web project, which consists of more than ten short videos. Currently, all information is recorded in binary format. Based on the concept of “After” found in Van Gogh’s artwork titles, this project goes beyond mere appropriation or stylistic quotation, deconstructing existing art images into their underlying visual structures. This approach is realized through expression using binary code and algorithms.

BIO

Kenji Kojima has been experimenting with the relationships between perception, cognition, technology, music, and visual art. He was born in Japan and moved to New York in 1980. Personal computers improved rapidly in the 80s. He started to create digital artwork. He developed the computer software RGB MusicLab. His digital art has been exhibited in New York and at media art festivals worldwide.
