The Life Ball in Vienna is one of the largest and most spectacular charity events in the world. The event, which is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting research of HIV and AIDS, has become an amazing spectacle of performance art, and a costumed gala.

To help promote the Gala, Life Ball issues a ‘Style Bible’ every year, showcasing that year’s ‘theme’. Attendees are encouraged to follow the dress code set by this ‘Style Bible’.

This year, Life Ball commissioned Austrian photographer Inge Prader spearhead a massive photoshoot recreating the works of the esteemed Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt.

With the help of 50 team members, consisting of make up artists, wardrobe stylists, body painters and set designers, Prader managed to create some truly spectacular homages to to the paintings of Gustav Klimt.

A glamorous party will be celebrated under the banner of solidarity and tolerance during the flashy AIDS charity event on 16 May. We can look forward to a large number of celebrities at the Life Ball again this year, including designer Jean Paul Gaultier and Hollywood star Charlize Theron. A benefit concert will be held the evening before in the Burgtheater with opera greats such as Anna Netrebko and Plácido Domingo.

The Life Ball is one of the biggest AIDS charity events in the world. The party on May 16 in front of Vienna’s City Hall promises to be flashy, colorful and loud, in order to generate donations for AIDS relief projects and to promote public awareness of HIV and AIDS.

The Viennese Secessionists provided inspiration for this year’s motto “Gold – Ver Sacrum | Santa Primavera | Sacre du Printemps”. “Ver Sacrum”, the spring festival which originates in ancient Rome, is reflected in Gustav Klimt’s golden paintings and in Igor Stravinsky’s ballet music “Sacre du Printemps” (The Rite of Spring). This year, the stage will consist of an scaled-up replica of the Vienna Secession and following the Life Ball will be part of the Eurovision Village for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Als wären sie lebendig! In den goldenen Style Bible-Sujets des Life Ball, fotografiert von Inge Prader, wurden Gustav Klimts Werke mit echten Menschen nachgestellt, und damit die alten Gemälde Realität werden lassen. Die Ähnlichkeiten zwischen Original und Hommage sind atemberaubend schön und etwas ganz Besonderes…
Die goldenen Gemälden von Gustav Klimt, einem der bekanntesten Künstler Österreichs, treffen auf die Kreativität von Life Ball-Gründer Gery Keszler und die Fotolinse von Inge Prader, die speziell für den Life Ball neue Versionen der Werke abbildete: Diesmal nicht mit Farbe, sondern mit Kamera, Modellen, Bühnenbild und Kostümen. Insgesamt 83 Models hauchen teils neu interpretierten und arrangierten Kunstwerken wie Gustav Klimts berühmtem Beethovenfries neues Leben ein.

Ein rund 50-köpfiges Team aus Make-Up und Hair-Artists, Stylisten, Dekorateuren und Bodypaintern sorgen für den perfekten Look jeder einzelnen Style Bible Figur. “Diesen Kuss der ganzen Welt”, in einer Interpretation des Life Ball, fotografiert von Inge Prader.

ART – Les peintures de Gustave Klimt prennent vie. Chef de file de la “Sécession de Vienne” qui a ouvert l’Autriche à l’Art contemporain, Klimt est notamment connu pour ses peintures dorées, inspirées de l’art byzantin. Un travail auquel la photographe autrichienne Inge Prader a rendu hommage, reproduisant et immortalisant ses toiles, mises en scène avec de vrais mannequins.

A la fin du XIXème siècle, Klimt impose donc un style novateur, connu sous le nom d’Art Nouveau. Caractérisé notamment par des lignes courbes et sinueuses, le mouvement de l’Art Nouveau s’étendra à toute l’Europe, dans des domaines variés, comme en témoignent les multiples sculptures de l’artiste catalan Gaudi, issu de cette nouvelle mouvance.

Présentées en mai lors du gala annuel de l’association Life Balls, qui récolte des fonds pour la recherche sur le virus du sida, les photographies sont également l’occasion de (re)découvrir les œuvres parfois polémiques du très érotique Gustave Klimt, auquel une exposition était récemment consacrée à la Pinacothèque de Paris.

לראות ציור של גוסטב קלימט בפעם הראשונה זו חוויה שהיא לא פחות מהלם – דומה לתחושה שחוו הווינאים כשפגשו את התיאוריות של פרויד על הנפש. ההשוואה הזו ביניהם אינה מקרית: שניהם פעלו בווינה פחות או יותר באותה תקופה, והמסרים שהביאו לעולם היו קשים לעיכול. רק בחלוף השנים הבינו את גדולתם.

הפעם הראשונה שזה קרה לי, כלומר שראיתי עבודה של קלימט, הייתה בעצם על כרטיס כניסה לגלריה ברומא. רק כמה דקות אחר כך זכיתי לראות את הדבר האמיתי, ולהתאבן במקום מול העוצמה. מאז ראיתי יצירות שלו גם בניו יורק וגם בתל אביב, ולמרות שיש להן קו דומה, בכל פעם מחדש מתקיים אפקט הוואו. פשוט אי אפשר להישאר אדישים.

האפקט הזה פועל גם כשמתבוננים בפרויקט שיצרה הצלמת אינגה פרדר עבור ארגון Life Ball. פרדר לקחה את הרעיון של מנכ”ל הארגון גרי קצלר, והפכה את היצירות של גוסטב קלימט מ”התקופה המוזהבת” למציאות: היא הביאה לסטודיו אנשים חיים ויצרה את הציורים מחדש, תוך שהיא משלבת בין דמיון למקור לבין פרשנות עכשווית.

ההתפעלות מהצילומים ומההשקעה בהפקה, דוחקת הצידה שאלות כמו האם יש להתייחס אליהם כאל חיקוי או כאל יצירה עצמאית; האם הצילומים עומדים בפני עצמם ומספקים כמו שהם, או שחייבים להציג אותם בצמוד לרפליקציה של הציורים, כדי להבין את המהלך היצירתי; באיזה כלים אפשר לשפוט את התוצאה; האם הייתי רוצה לתלות אחד מהצילומים על הקיר בבית? במקום העבודה? בבית העירייה? בבית המשפט? במוזיאון?

הצילומים נוצרו כאמור עבור Life Ball – ארגון למען חולי איידס, שנלחם נגד הטאבו שעדיין קיים בחברה המודרנית לגבי ה-HIV, עוזר באופן בלתי שגרתי לאנשים שנדבקו במחלה, ושואף באופן מוצהר לחגוג את החיים, כל יום ויום שאנחנו כאן. פעם בשנה הארגון מקיים אירוע התרמה ענק בבית העירייה של וינה, שבו מביאים לקדמת הבמה את הרוח האופטימית במטרה לעורר השראה ולעודד יצירתיות – ונראה לי שבמשימה הזו העבודות של פרדר בהחלט עומדות בכבוד.

בתוך כל הסדרה הזו היה חסר לי ה”פורטרט של אדל בלוך באואר 1″ מאותה תקופה מוזהבת (צויר ב-1907), שמככב במקום ה-7 בדירוג היצירות היקרות ביותר בעולם שנמכרו במכירות פומביות – אחרי שהמיליארדר רון לאודר שילם 157.9 מיליון דולר לאחיינית של אדל, מריה אלטמן [הסיפור של אלטמן הופיע בסרט שיצא השנה בכיכובה של הלן מירן, Woman in Gold). אולי הציור הזה פחות איתגר את פרדר, אולי הייתה סיבה אחרת, ואולי המשך, כמו שאומרים, יבוא.

ולפני סיום, עוד השראה מגוסטב קלימט, הפעם בתחום האופנה. אמנם זה קרה כבר לפני שנים אחדות, אבל היי, מדובר ביצירה על זמנית. המעצבת לורן סקוט וצמד המעצבים תומאזו אקווילאנו ורוברטו רימונדי הציעו פרשנויות נהדרות ליצירות של קלימט בעיצובי השמלות שלהם. אמנם קשה ללבוש שמלה כזו פעמיים, אלא אם מגיעים לאירועים בשתי מדינות שונות, אבל היי, מי שיש לו כסף לקנות את השמלות האלה לא עושה חשבונות מהסוג הזה. עוד על העיצובים אפשר לקרוא כאן.

Το Life Ball της Βιέννης εκτός από το μεγαλύτερο ευρωπαϊκό φιλανθρωπικό γεγονός για το HIV και το AIDS είναι και μια πληθωρική και άκρως απελευθερωμένη διοργάνωση που συγκεντρώνει διάσημα πρόσωπα, καλλιτέχνες και ακτιβιστές που μάχονται υπέρ της διαφορετικότητας.

Στη φετινή του εκδοχή, η παρουσία του φωτογράφου Inge Prader ήταν από εκείνες που ξεχώρισαν, αφού στα πλαίσια του Life Ball ο Αυστριακός καλλιτέχνης παρουσίασε μια εκπληκτική φωτογραφική συλλογή μέσα από την οποία εμφύσησε ζωή στους πιο διάσημους πίνακες του Gustav Klimt.

O Inge Prader εστιάζοντας στη χρυσή εποχή του ζωγράφου αναβίωσε με ολοζώντανα μοντέλα και απόλυτη ακρίβεια διάσημα έργα του Klimt, όπως η «Δανάη» και η «Ζωφόρος του Μπετόβεν».

　　在今年为艾滋病患者筹集善款的维也纳慈善舞会上，摄影师Inge Prader贡献了一组精美摄影。Inge Prader利用镜头真实还原了奥地利分裂派画家克里姆特在其“黄金时代”创作的《女性的三个阶段》、《贝多芬饰带》、《达娜厄》等系列名作。

　　《女性的三个阶段》象征女人的一生–幼年、青年和老年三个阶段，表现出克里姆特对不可逆转的人生阶段的哀叹。

　　《贝多芬饰带》是克里姆特为1902年第14届分离派“向贝多芬致敬”展而创作的装饰壁画。

　　达娜厄是希腊神话中海耳戈斯王阿克里西俄斯的女儿。克里姆特以写实的手法，从现代人的审美观念出发，描绘了一位体态丰润充满诱惑力的裸女，表现出一种潜意识中的压抑和欲望。
