Gemma Tickle creates playfully sophisticated work that evokes narrative through colour, shape and form.

Her fascination with materials pushes her to create ideas that take inspiration from surrealism and everyday objects which she distorts and re-imagines to realise a concept. Known for her distinct and playful prop and neon designs, Gemma’s work has developed to encompass larger scale set projects including fashion stories for SSAW & Under The Influence and a solo art installation titled ‘POP’.

Gemma has been commissioned on still life & fashion projects for AnOther, British Vogue, Under The Influence, Modern Weekly China, Jo Malone, Selfridges and Nicole Fahri.

Welcome to the strange universe of Gemma Tickle – where balloons are square, hexagonal and cylindrical, where they’re as big as a person, and where they never, ever deflate. Her window installation for London boutique Darkroom plays with the kind of things you might expect of your favourite party favourites and makes them into the exact opposite, in an installation that’s as playfully funny as it is aesthetically pleasing. What’s more, Gemma’s on the site not once but twice this week, in a perhaps-never-before-seen double whammy of a celebration of her creativity, and the best possible demonstration of how great we think she is. Which is very great! Surreal and abstract and a bit weird, and all the things we like to see in a set designer. Woo! Go Gemma!

Gemma Ticke est une designer reconnue dans le monde de la publicité, de l’éditorial et de l’évènementiel. Parmi ses clients : Elle, MTV, Wallpaper*, John Lewis ou Nike. Elle a également collaboré avec de nombreux photographes de renom comme Carl Kleiner, Metz & Racine, Leandro Farina, Sam Hofman, John Short et Jenny Van Sommers.

Fidèle à ses racines, Gemma travaille de son studio dans le quartier de Dalston, l’empire des hipsters, dans le nord-est de la capitale.
