Superconsumers is a response to the luxury consumer products on sale within the department store. Universal Everything created a series of extreme digital-pop-art amplifications of these products, bringing them to life as a diverse, animated parade of characters – from metallic puffer jackets to elaborate jewellery, gastronomical creations to bold floral arrangements.
Moncler Genie Herbst 2020
Seit seiner Gründung hat das Moncler-Genie-Projekt Designer aus verschiedenen Kulturen gebeten, Kapselkollektionen zu kreieren, die von der legendären Moncler-Pufferjacke inspiriert sind. Der in London lebende Designer Richard Quinn besuchte für seine Kollektion den Retro-Futurismus der sechziger Jahre. Mit klaren Einflüssen wie Stanley Kubricks 2001: A Space Odyssey und Twiggy verbindet die Kollektion perfekt Maximalismus, kräftige Farben und Couture-Formen. Natürlich wurden Quinns Blumendrucke – Teil seiner Design-DNA – nicht zurückgelassen.

Universal Everything schuf eine Reihe extremer Digital-Pop-Art-Verstärkungen dieser Produkte, die sie als vielfältige, animierte Parade von Charakteren zum Leben erweckten – von metallischen Pufferjacken über aufwändigen Schmuck, gastronomische Kreationen bis hin zu kühnen Blumenarrangements.

The ballooning dress took on a very unique silhouette.The models were send down the runway wearing headpieces which matched the round bunched bottom shaped dress. The collection’s first half was staunchly buffered by outerwear resembling that of protective armor, with contemporary suiting and shirting turned upside down by boxy and robust puffer-like additives […] These qualities were furthered in an array of pieces that look like camping tents with ladders hanging from the front and even in pieces that resembled wire mesh attached to the body, emitting cage-like qualities that tie into Green’s continued themes surrounding the dissection of the male psyche.
Moncler’s Genius Fall 2020
Since its inception, the Moncler genius project has asked designers coming from diverse cultures to create capsule collections inspired by the iconic Moncler puffer jacket. For his collection, london-based designer Richard Quinn visited the retro-futurism of the sixties. With clear influences like stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and Twiggy, the collection perfectly blends maximalism, bold colors and couture shapes. Of course, Quinn’s flower prints — part of his design DNA — were not left behind.
Lauren Kalman is a visual artist whose practice is invested in contemporary craft, video, photography and performance. Through her work she investigates beauty, adornment, body image, value, and consumer culture. Raised in the Midwest, Kalman completed her MFA in Art and Technology from the Ohio State University and earned a BFA with a focus in metals from the Massachusetts College of Art. She has been awarded residencies at the Corporation of Yaddo, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, and Santa Fe Art Institute. In addition she has received Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, Puffin Foundation West and ISE Cultural Foundation grants.

Japanese artist Kohei Nawa has immersed visitors at the aichi triennale in undulating sea of bubbling matter, surrounding the walls and floor in porous, cloud-like material. ‘Foam’ inhabits an almost pitch-black room, creating an ethereal quality that seems aesthetically otherworldly walking through the space, the topography of the puffs creates a massive terrain of floating material, stiff enough to stand in place, yet copious in its fragility and delicacy.
