Mixobloodify – England

Mixobloodify originates from research on hybridizing the traditional Chinese pipa with electronic music to form a new digital language. Through this process, the artist became interested in broader ideas of hybridity, including cross-cultural identity, cultural conflict and self-acceptance. The work follows Homi Bhabha’s notion of the “third space”, treating artistic creation as a site where different cultural backgrounds meet and transform.

BIO

Bowen Wu is a Glasgow-based composer and audiovisual artist working with sound art, electroacoustic music, moving image and live electronics, often using archival material and spatial listening. His works have been presented internationally. He holds an MSc from the University of Edinburgh and is currently a PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow.
