Ever since the early childhood, growing up in Siberia, Elena always dreamed of being a part of artistic aspect of life. She’s always been inclined toward visual arts, but for practical reasons decided to pursue BS in the field of science as a chemist upon arrival to US at the tender age of twenty. She worked as an analytical chemist at one of the World’s biggest biotech companies working on HIV research until 2009, when she made a radical career change move and enrolled in MFA program in commercial photography at Academy of Art, San Francisco.
While in school, Elena’s focal points begin to converge towards conceptual, thought-provoking work for the purpose of advertisement that crosses into the realm of art. To overcome physical limitations of photography she often combines it with other modern technologies, such as digital 3D elements of design.
Over the period of four years in the field and while still in school Elena worked on such hi-profile projects as re-branding of the all-encompassing University of California system, including all UC Medical Centers, Laboratories and agricultural centers; University of California National Campaign “Onward California”, as well as servicing individual campuses’ photography needs. Among other clients she did work for Accel Partners and Stanford University.
