I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself est une série d’appareils autour des empreintes digitales. L’empreinte digitale est une image que chacun d’entre nous porte en lui. Cette installation cherche à détourner son usage habituel et l’identification avec une transformation imprévisible. L’installation interactive permet au visiteur de scanner son empreinte et de voir l’image évoluer dans le temps. L’empreinte digitale dérive et se casse comme un iceberg sur un océan limité par l’écran.

Grégory Chatonsky est né à Paris en 1971. Il poursuit des études d’arts plastiques au lycée, puis de philosophie à la Sorbonne et de numérique aux Beaux-Arts de Paris. Il fonde en 1994 Incident, un collectif d’artistes sur Internet. Il enseigne l’art numérique dans des universités et des écoles d’art tels que Paris IV, Le Fresnoy ou l’UQAM.
Son travail porte sur la fiction, les flux et la destruction. Il aborde une multitude de médiums analogiques et numériques en questionnant la relation que nous entretenons avec la technique.
Il vit à Montréal et Paris.

I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself is a series of devices on fingerprints. The fingerprint is an image that each of us carries. This is all about diverting its common use, the identifications and coming up with an unpredictable transformation. An interactive installation enables the visitor to scan his fingerprint and to see its image evolve in time. The fingerprints drift and break like icebergs on an ocean limted by the screen.

Gregory Chatonsky was born in Paris in 1971. He studied art at college, philosophy at the Sorbonne and digital art in ENSBA Paris. He founded in 1994 incident, a collective of artists on the Internet. He teaches digital art at universities and art schools such as Paris IV, The Fresnoy or UQAM.
His work focuses on fiction, flows and destruction. He works with a variety of analog and digital media by questioning the relationship we have with technology.
He lives in Montreal and Paris.
