HILARY FAYE

What isn’t Hilary Faye good at? After looking at her extensive collection of imperial artistic talents, I couldn’t decide in which medium she showed more strength. Her online catalog showcases her fine skill in: collage, mixed media, photography, animation, typography, illustration and packaging design. In founding all of this, she has a proclivity for beautiful imagery and visual symphonics.

Faye has a magical eye for composition and colour, which especially shines through in her photography. Her collages meld objects, people, animals and landscapes together with haphazard cropping and appropriation, and the outcomes are compelling and enigmatic. She dabbles in layering and geometry; her chosen textures and tones are evocative of another era, with use of nostalgic film grains, which is at the forefront of her mixed media mantra. She has a knack of combining a myriad of elements and arranging them into a rich formation of imagery.

Faye fuses natural environments with domestic elements and humanistic forms in her work, with a blatant cut and paste mentality which she calls ‘The bringing together of different worlds on an unfamiliar plane…’

It’s the Dadaesque relationship between objects which brings a poised chaos to Faye’s collages- the shapes, colours and compositions are charming and elegant, interspersed with interstellar subject matter. Her mixed media category delivers more imagery from the cosmos, and manipulates the space into a more psychedelic and ethnic-themed adventure. She has a more twisted take on subject matter here, where she moulds and plays with the diverse expanse of objects and space in a raw yet controlled manner.

The skills and talents of Hilary Faye are dexterous and miscellaneous, and she is fast becoming recognised as a young talent not to be overlooked. Some of her signature works are becoming iconic and are being shared across the globe, with her name becoming synonymous with a graceful-yet-dynamic style. Enjoy the mysterious journey of Hilary Faye’s two and three-dimensional visual worlds and imagine that you have discovered a new planet in an unfathomable universe…
