Venezuelan-born producer Arca and London-based director Jesse Kanda premiered their film at MOMA PS1 Sunday, October 5, 2013. The piece visually interprets a section of Arca’s latest work, &&&&&. The event featured abstract renditions of Arca’s music with the live vocals of Abby Fischer, Mellissa Hughes, and Thomas McCargar, accompanied by lights and a set designed by video/art collective Thunderhorse Ent.

On October 6, Pitchfork’s New York-based multimedia initiative FORMS will partner with MoMA PS1 for an event at the museum’s VW Performance Dome in Long Island City, Queens. It’s the first of three FORMS events set to take place at MoMA PS1.
Venezuelan-born producer Arca and London-based director Jesse Kanda will premiere a film. The piece visually interprets a section of Arca’s latest work, &&&&&. (Stream that, above.) The event will feature abstract renditions of Arca’s music with a vocal ensemble led by Abby Fischer accompanied by lights and a set designed by video/art collective Thunderhorse Ent. Arca, who has released LPs on Hippos in Tanks and UNO NYC, also produced four songs on Kanye West’s Yeezus. He has also worked with Mykki Blanco and FKA Twigs, among others. Kanda recently directed FKA Twigs’ “How’s That” video.

Jesse Kanda is a director of a digital age. Coming from a background in 3D design and animation, he often incorporates new technology in his films to create unique hyper-real pictures.
Following online success with his short film Dutch Wife (later picked up by Channel 4), he quickly garnered attention within the fashion and music industries. He has since worked on projects for forward-thinking clients like Comme des Garçons, Martin Margiela, Preen, BLK DNM, UNO NYC and Hippos In Tanks. Most recently, Jesse has created heart-stopping music videos for Twigs (“How’s That”), Arca (“Ass Swung Low”) and the album launch film “The Golden Age” for Woodkid.
