Cullbergbaletten Reaktorhallen

The dance film 40 M UNDER is Alexander Ekman’s first lengthy film project. The film, which was recorded in the summer of 2009 in the former reactor hall at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, focuses on a few people who carry out a type of installation underground.
40 M UNDER has been broadcasted in festivals and on National Swedish television.
”What makes film so interesting for me is the opportunity it provides to play with perspective, tempo and images in a way that the stage doesn’t allow for. There’s also an intimacy in film that allows details to be sharpened and enhanced. The strong personalities of the Cullberg Ballet dancers become even more pronounced on film as compared with the stage,” says Ekman.
