Min Wu graduated this year at London’s College of Fashion with collection “Schizophrenia”, inspired by series “Solid Light” by artist Anthony McCall and by vase “Schizo” by studio OOOMS.
Sculptural, theatrical and designed according to an ideal of femininity, the collection of this young fashion designer was made with modern materials like neoprene and viscose.
The folds present throughout the series evoke the lines of vase “Schizo”. Particularly the piece with the sleeveless coat, in which the spaces between pleats almost seem translucent, creating the effect of division, therefore suggesting an idea of schizophrenia, the concept of the collection.
McCall’s influence is evident in Wu’s use of color. The Chinese fashion designer hand-dyed the pieces to ensure a gradient shading from dark to light and vice versa, using purples and bright blues that contrast with the predominant white fabric.
And the recurring element of the fold is also present in the plastic heel of the shoes. A detail that illuminates this collection from below, highlighting its 90s flavor with a contemporary twist.

Designed with a bold, modern woman in mind, Min Wu uses interlacing lines and fluid shapes to create a strong visual contrast. The unique combination of unusual materials gives an other-worldly sense to the collection, bringing together lightness and an air of easy elegance.

Min Wu continues to explore the original beauty that is born from the deliberate combination of functional materials, with particular emphasis on technology and the reflection of this in the world today.
